Quick factory tyre question

I believe for a NZ new 99 WRX the factory tyre is 205/50/16.

Does it matter if I went to a 205/55/16? Or should I stick with the 205/50/16?

All 4 tyres need replacing. I did try search, but my efforts were fruitless.

It won't matter at all if you go up to 55 profile; as long as you are doing all four. All it means is that you will lose a small amount of acceleration, and gain slightly longer legs. Be aware that your speedo will read low, so drive accordingly and you'll be fine.

16's are getting spendy aint they? might be worth 'upgrade' 17"s ?

I have 17's at the moment. However 2 reasons I want to go back to factory, 1st, Christchurch roads suck with 17's and low profile tyres, especially in the east where I live, 2nd, my wagon is NZ new and I like the wheels they came with factory.

in the past 6 months I have bought two different sets of 205/50/16 tyres. While they're rarer then they once were theyre still about.

If you want cheap, try finding someone who does Falken. The suppliers are clearing through old stock of the FK452 cheap, and its a real good tyre.

Try "tyre shop on line" they have a good selection of 16's..
