Ive been running a HKS mushroom Pod for a while now with no problems.

I think as long as you have it securely fastened you shouldn't have problems with the AFM, well thats what I believe based on what Ive seen.

I had mine installed by mag and turbo and it is really well secured. If you grab it and try to move it it hardly moves at all

fingers crossed then

Bugger, I just bought a 94 GT and it had a K&N pod on it, looking a bit worse for wear, so I just got a JAMEX pod for $33 delivered...trying to get a refund so I can go up and get the factory air box from the wreckers...

I've had a tiny bit of backfiring and hesitation in lower revs, new sparks have done a little good but hopefully this is the prob

Backfiring as in once this morning, only had the car a week. I hope it's not the coils! Haha. I thought maybe the maf getting swirling air and faulty readings some times may cause overfueling, also the pod aint secured so it's all jiggling round, think I'll take the maf apart and inspect as per tech doco on here, then secure properly and see what happens...needs heat sheilding either way.

i had a mushroom hks pod, was secure, maybe it was just a considence? (*sp) and that the afm was already on its way out?

although, i did have a pip coming from the front bumper right into the pod, so it probably just got some shit in it

Na all the time, under moderate throttle. The backfire was when it was cold though...

Really? Werent they only about $180 odd for the Gen 3 type AFM?

Stainless mesh type dont filter alot. A few trips via some dusty roadworks proved that to me after looking inside intake piping.

But hey, Bing and Noise is more important to some than protecting your engine.

The price I got from Wingers was even more! That $500+GST was cost price through a friend.

The original one they gave me was not the right one and it was $180+GST. After giving them the model number off the one actually in the car they gave me the scary quote!

for those of you running mushroom foam filters... did you not see the pic keltic posted?

Yes. thats my turbo, and its running a HKS style pod. Filters nothing, and fks turbo. [quote name='keltik said:

Can I ask how many kms you have done with this turbo. Even normal airboxes wont filter everything.

If by backfiring you mean a popping sound from the exhaust as unburnt gas exits the exhaust and coupled with the heat can ignite causing the pop. This is not backfiring and is completely normal, especially if you have an aftermarket performance muffler/exhaust.

I like exhaust popping. ;D

I've had no problems with my pod since I've had it, it's an A'Pexi pod which came with some brackets to hold it and the AFM in place... been running it since Feb though so there is plenty of time for it to all go south...

Owell I still have the factory airbox lying around, can always go back if the need arises

Same here, but ive got a Blitz mesh one. However today I changed it over to an Apexi one just to see how it sounds, as the blitz one is kind of annoying on long trips.

car done 130k km. as to age of filter... no idea.

HKS filters need to have the mesh changed every 5000kms. I used have them on my old fd.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
