B4 and B4 RSK question

Guest

Recommended Posts

that's the first time i've seen it. but i bet it has the same bilsteins mine does (no badge) and along the way someone took that from a GTB and put it on.

i know every B4 i have seen (excluding non turbo, didn't care enough to look) has bilstein suspenion. except of course, the one i drove where the guy had fitted aftermarket springs. still bilstein shocks though.

Ive seen quite a few with the badge, that was the only photo of one i had handy. ive also seen plenty of GTB's without the badge but with the struts. Badging isnt everything

fair enough. maybe the south island is different? :P

but yes, all B4's should have the bilstein suspenion- this is the reason behind the theory of the B in B4 standing for bilstein.

badge or no badge, the yellow struts are there.

RS B4 (aka B4) = sedan, non turbo, manual or auto, may or may not have Bilsteins

GT = wagon, twin turbo, auto or manual, may have Bilsteins

GTB = wagon, twin turbo, auto or manual, always with Bilsteins

RSK B4 = sedan, twin turbo, auto or manual, always with Bilsteins

S401 = sedan, STi tuned RSK B4, there's a few in NZ.

Blitzen = RSK B4 (sedan) or GTB (wagon), auto or manual, with Porsche designed bodykit and wheels, always with Bilsteins.

Yes there is an N/A wagon but I can't recall the designation at the mo.

B4 has no reference to Bilstein. Its simply a name code from Subaru.

Yes there was an STi version, the S401.

The facelifted version (MY02/03) had the tuneable ECU across all models.

Non turbo wagon is the TSR, dont know what the non turbo sedan is known as but a guy near me in Whakatane has one and it does NOT have bilstein struts. Everything Ryans said agrees with my limited experience

huh. i don't know if mine is an RSK or not, but i promise it has two turbos... :P haven't looked up the code to be sure exactly what it's supposed to be. but what you say certainly makes sense.

for searching on trademe, since that is where it seems the asker is looking, just search B4. some will say RSK, others won't bother. but if it has no scoop, it's not a turbo.

So, basically, look for the yellow struts to double-check. And make sure there is a scoop and the engine cover says Twin Turbo, yes? :)

Man, the fact that you Subaru experts are even debating it means I basically have no chance in hell trying to figure out what's what, lol. I'll just be sure to look for what's important to me: leather seats (or $2500 cheaper so that I can get on installed), alarm, bilstein yellow struts, twin turbo, 100km miles service (or cars with a lot less mileage), blitzen kit (if it's 2001 or older; B4 RSK if it's 2002 or newer). I think that should do it from my checklist. Now to scour trademe and cross things off my checklist (damn all these 92km cars).

Each to their own, I wouldnt worry about the slight differences between models.

Get something that a) you like b) has good k's or service history and appears to be well looked after.

At the end of the day, you can add mags, springs and mod it how you wish

Too True!! This isnt a $750,000 Ford Phase IV GTHO Falcon that you need to have matching numbers and badges on......

Lets not get started on the "Subaru Realilabilty" debate either.

Yeah I'm thinking along the same lines. Blitzens were just a change of bodykit, wheels etc. Nothing mechanical.

Front LSD was an option on RSK/GTB, it may have been fitted to all the Blitzens? I looked into it when buying my GTB in case I found one with it, but mine doesn't. One letter different in the gearbox code between front LSD and non-LSD based on the info I found, but I can't really remember which letter. Maybe TY754VBBBA vs VBBCA (LSD) off the top of my head, memory could be faulty on that one though.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
