Bigger wheels

Hello again.

Looking for a way to give my 2008 legacy a beefier look. Thinking of bigger wheels. Has any body put bigger wheels on?

Bigger as in taller, or wider?

 

Taller, doubt many people would as it'll mess with stuff with even a minor size increase over the largest wheel which was available at 215/45/18.

 

Wider, every man and his dog does it. Can easily go 225/40/18 on 18x8 rims for zero issues with most reasonable offsets or get 235/40/18 and 18x8.5 with mid 40's offset and only some added rear camber needed to get no noticeable rub.

Correct me if im wrong, but you can go for larger diameter wheels (example 19 inch) if you match the correct height tyre to go with it? Like maybe a 225/35/19 on a 19x8 wheel, with only a small percentage of speedometer error?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there something about it cant be more than 5% overall diameter of stock OEM rim and trye combo?

Yea failed to mention that. You definately can but unless its all for show I wouldn't as the much slimmer sidewall makes it ride harsher.

Forgot to mention

Im running 215/45/17 at the moment. Id like a bit of extra height, not width, an 18inch wheel ideally. i would want to stay with the same width and tire wall size of 45 if possible. i was just wondering if anybody has done this and if they didn't mind sharing their results / experience.

215/45/18 is the standard size for the spec b so no reason why they wouldn't work. Supposedly the spec b's have a steering rack limiter in place as there was minor rub at full lock so you might get that with the larger wheels.

I run 225/45/18 on mine only slightly wider but I did have some rubbing issues in the back (I am lowered though) but guards rolled and its all sorted now

225/40 is a good alternative to 215/45
