STI v11 and newer models steering rack leak fix

Seems the rack seals are pretty poorly made and they start to fail after about 7 years.

 

Rebuild cost here is around $700 after you send them the rack.

Someone else may want to save themselves some $$$

The rack is a pain to reconnect apparently with the hydraulic lines and there is a few braces to remove (more if you have the cusco H braces or lower arm supports)

 

Someone could get creative and almost do this on the car.

We're on our 3rd rack in our V11, both replacements done under CGA, but we were allowed to keep one of them, so I may just pick up one of these kits and refresh it!

So lucky I have to do it all on one rack so may just do the upper and lower to save time.

 

Since you have a spare there is also kit 34191FE020 that has the rest of the seals for god knows what bits but it’s cheap and on partsouq as well.

Think USD$60 shipped for this and full kit.

 

you may also want to get the flexible boots as well to make last as long as possible.

 

you could recon the spare and then the one on the car. They are worth good money.

Ooh sweet, thanks for that part number.

This is a bare rack, no rack ends etc, but I'm half considering getting all the bits to make it work on my GravelEx, so could definitely be a go-er...
