engine no start.

hi

i have a 91 rs.

i had changed my gearbox recently

but after iv done that, my car wont start.

after i tried tuning the car on, i can smell petrol from the engine bay(left side from lookng at the car from front.)

but i couldnt see as it was getting dark.

so thought id post here and see if anyone has any idea what could of happend and any fuel hose etc could been pulled off while i was changing the gearbox, before i do anything at a good day when its not pissing down rain.

does anyone know if theres any fuel hose on the left side that could of been pulld off?

Did the engine rock forwards when you pulled the gearbox off?? You may have stretched and split one of the fuel hoses by the LF suspension tower.

yup.. had to jack the engine up a little bit to get a better angle to pull off the gear box..

so is that hose easy to get to? and where is it located..?

hevae you checked the earth wires that you possiby took off the gearbox or the multi plugs etc?

is there a black plastic bottle lookin thing on the left side by the raditor there ar two small hoses going to that (air/fuel seperator i think)

check those

im sure that is tight.. i still cant get the engine started.. can smell petrol.

it could not be the left side,. it could be anywhere..

would anyone know where all the fuel hoses or fuel related that could leak and not start the car ?

i am havingalotof trouble... :-[

Um i dont thing you would have needed to undo them for a GBox but there are 2 or 3 plugs and they are quite small they are directly underneath the throttle body. this will cause your car to turn and not start, if you are 100% sure everything is plugged in id try taking the plug sout and given then a wee sand.

iv check for visible loose crack hose.. but still cant find nething..

but. I have found a thin black ground wire lying in my car. that has came off somewhere and now i dont remeber

anyone know where a groung wire could go that would not start the car?

where is the other end of the ground wire? if its attached to a part.. then ground it to the shell... ;D

if its the other way round get hunting haha

Where are you? Maybe get someone around to have a look.

Just a thought, did you put both wires back onto the starter?

yea if its a earth just bolt it to the chassis or engine block.

its not onto anything lol its just a black wire that was totaly pulled off somthing and just sitting in my car

yes starter is workng fine and engine is cranking but doesnt start the car..

and im located in west harbour

hi guys.. still havent managed to get the car starting.

im thinking of taking it to a garage now..

dont think it would be too hard to fix coz engine was sweet as before i changed the Gbox!

would anyone have any good place around waitakere?

close to west harbour,the better.. affordable prices would be better too

Or anyone who has good knowledge about subaru, could possibly come and try help me fix the probelm?
