Removing steering wheel?

How do you remove the steering wheel in a version 2 WRX STi? I've undone the big main centre bolt, what else is there? Got the standard Nardi wheel on it at the mo, I've got a 2002 .WRX Momo wheel to put on (hopefully it fits?!),

Put the nut back on a couple of turns and pull like crazy. The nut stops the wheel smacking you in the face. Its on a tapered spline.

Or even easier

Get yourself a gear puller (useful for other stuff as well), and a couple of turns of a spanner all done...

I made myself a very simple steering wheel puller..

Just 2 bolts and a peice of steel approx 8mm thick about 30 mm wide and about 80 etc mm long.

So far it has fitted every subaru steering wheel that I've pulled off. every thing from Justys, Leones, Svxs etc

Cover up the SRS airbag logo, and remove the detonator, good as gold (if the wheel physically fits)

You will need the entire steering column, as they use a different clockwheel, otherwise you're going to be hornless, and therefore WOFless

Yeah I'm going to try and fit the clockwheel to the new steering wheel if I can, got the wheel on today. Yes it does have a in-built airbag, whats the laws regarding this? Can it not just sit there unplugged?

No, it needs to be removed.

Hah yeah might have to do it in the safety of the bead blaster enclosure at work just in case..

we have set large curtain ones off at work and there pretty unspectacular, if theres no wires into the plug then u cant set it off, i can check the virm tomorrow but im unsure if theres even mention of having a bag in non srs cars. still this could cause problems at wof time with the inspector seeing a bag and no light
