I have one of these in my Evo, its an awesome headunit.

I have the old version (5950) in my Forester, but it has a few nasty quirks. The new model addresses all the issues I had with the old one. If you want more details pm me.

I havent read this post so feel free to abuse me if someone has already covered this.

I have a Pioneer head unit that controls the ipod through the head unit. Things that i wish it did that it doesnt

-Allow you to change songs using the actual iPod, when you have 90gb of music on your iPod, scrolling through artists using the dial on the head unit takes for f#cking ever.

-When you control the iPod completly throught the head unit, then start playing a song you have selected by going artist -> album -> song. Then decide you want to pick another song from that album, it doesnt remember the last place it was in the library and you have to select an artist, then album all over again. Which is a pain when you have a truck load of songs.

So if you are in the market of getting one go find one that doesnt have those niggly issues.

Those are the same niggles i had with the 5950.

The Pioneer 6050 fixes these issues. You push the list button while listening to an artist and it brings up all the songs by them.

Also while looking for an artist, pushing list brings up a list of letters, turn the dial to scroll to the letter of artists name.

It also has a display off function so the head unit doesn't light up your car on a 4hour night drive.

yeah that certainly helps.

But sometimes you get the urge to listen to [insert random artist here] and in that case its still a pain in the rear.

oh. well, whichever it is, they have them at repco, and i was looking at it the other day but didnt have an iPod with me to try out. I have a new-ish iPod classic, so I would have to get one that works with that.

anyone keen to swap their Pioneer P80RS or P80RSII for an Alpine CDA9887 with iPod high speed cable? The Pioneer must also have the iPod controller cable... and unit in reasonable condition, prefably with manuals

maybe i'm using the wrong forums...lol

so get one off these

dont have one

dont have an ipod even

but they so so cool

I've got one of these in my car now but slightly older version with ipod and cd brought it well back in the day when my mate was working for repco.., good unit but the CD player in them always play up. but if you were only going to use IPOD (like me) then they are prefect, work great and you have full song selection from the head unit and remote :)

I've got a Sony CDX-GT620IP in mine. More than likely it will have been superceeded by now. Though i fully rate it and its ipod functionality.

a word of warning though: With the latest nano's and the Gen II touch, Apple changed the charging mechanisim. They went from firewire charging to usb. This means that all hardware designed pre-touch II will NOT charge the latest generation of iPods.

I'm not sure if the new stuff will charge old and new, either.

I'm contemplating picking up a 120gb classic for my car alone cos it will not charge my gen II touch.

I cannot see the point in having a storage unit in you car that is tethered by a cord (I imagine) when you could just use USB type face-plates, same hassle with less "danglieness"

I made a word up

personally I havea 10 disc MP3/CD changer and a MP3/CD head unit

plenty of tunes when I can be bothered to listen - most of time is spent on radio for the whole 1km commute to workshop...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
