Brand List - Coil over suspension

Guest

Recommended Posts

Can we generate a list of brands for those who don't know what to compare? *ahem, not me* :P

List your favourites, your most hated, your value for monies, ones you want but only in your dreams.

Try listing with reasoning... But main goal is a brand list to investigate at the end of the day.

Bilstein - Fantastic because when we...

KYB - Good, my car...

Tein - Crap, as we could just not...

JapXYZ - I wish, just so expensive...

ETC.

D2's (with pillowball mounts and camber plates all round) were fine in the GT wagon.

Used for street only and did many, many km's on them with no problems.

Stiffish, easy 3 wheel.

Cost $1499(new) in 2006, around $1200 now?

Tein Type HA (non height adjustable, but with pillowball and camberplates on front.

Were fitted second hand to a '97 WRX wagon and were VERY hard, even on softest setting. Probably better suited to track.

Cost $600 (second hand) in 2005 Around $2500 to $3500 now, depending on model.

Buddy Club Racing Spec Dampers (Pillow ball mounts and camber plates front only, height adjustable).

Fitted to Spec C and were excellent on road and gravel.

Softest setting slightly firmer than new STI suspension, each click up was considerably firmer (never wound up to full as i think 3 was the most I tried, pretty firm at 3. Went to 16 i think).

Cost ($1400 new, but that was cost) Around $2800 new now.

I dont know exactly what model mine are (I could tell you if my damn car was here, not STILL at the workshop in town) but they are cusco with pillowball mounts, adjustable camber, damper, ride height etc and they are frickn awesome, can have them set up quite soft and near factory feeling, right out to as hard and low as hell and does 3 wheelers over every tiny bump you come across, cost me 1200 ex japan, 2nd hand, all checked and supplied with a warranty

  • 3 weeks later...

I've got Tein HR's, Height adjustable only, 5kg front springs and 4kg rears, rather hard dampening in them but they can be rebuilt in Auckland and the dampening rate can be adjusted. You can even get them rebuilt with adjustable dampening.

They handle awesome I'm using factory rubber strut tops with them so they dont ride as hard as others would.

Rears are adjusted as low as they can with 315mm rear wheel centre to guard clearance, fronts at 325mm with more adjustment to go.

Daiyama adjustable suspension I forget what model I had but I can say from my experience these are awesome, pillow ball mounted, soft to hard adjustment, 30cm adjustment up or down ride height and ride quality was awesome had them very low and they did not bottom out when you ran over a pot hole or feel like you were in a boat when you hit a rise in the road at speed. I have driven on few other brands Tein koni D2 and BC and have found that daiyama were awesome for (road use) these were purchased from SAS ;D Oh and I paid just over $1400 3 years ago

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
