Some GT vs GTB questions (new shape)

Hey guys I have a couple question about the new shape 2003-2008 legacy

Not thinking about buying, just trying to up skill the knowledge base.

(NZ new I am asking about here)

What are the differences between the Pre-facelift and the facelift models?

What are the differences between the GT and GTB shape.

From the Facelift and Pre facelift are there any differences between the GT and GTB shape.

Does the McIntosh stereo in either GT or GTB play Mp3 cd's or have an AUX 3.5mm input?

What are the 5 speed trans like in the Pre facelift for handling the 206kw of power?, I seem to remember that the old 5 speeds in impreza's could be weak and someone told me (probably incorrectly) that subaru has basically not changed their 5 speeds in forever.

How quick are they in factory spec

0-100

1/4mile

Top speed

Fuel usage.

I have used the search function but it didnt come up with much

Now stickied, so easier to find !!!

That is the specs for the pre facelift NZ New BP/BL Legacies from the manual. Autocar clocked one at 5.4 seconds to 100km/hr. You can get anywhere between 8 and 12 litres per 100kms with general driving. The Macintosh stereo doesn't play MP3s, and doesn't have an aux jack although apparently you can get kits to add one. The difference between GT and GTB are things like 18" wheels, leather heated and powered seats, a different front bumper cover (lower lip shape and spots are different), the stereo, and maybe a few other things that escape me right now. There are quite a few other members with these cars who can probably tell you more.

No fluffing around here, just get the GT B-Spec. iv'e driven both and the B-Spec won outright, better suspension, better interior (if you the mckintosh stereo) looks nicer and those 18's are pretty sweet.

The 5 speed auto is pretty sweet. If I was buying a BL/BP I would get the auto.

The facelift can have an AUX jack fitted in the centre console to plug your ipod etc into.

I've been with Wingers for over 4 years, and never replaced one of those manual boxes. They seem much better than the old WRX / Legacy boxes.

There is a socket on the rear of the head unit, and a spare panel in the console box. So not factory fitted, but can be retrofitted. Kits are available from Subaru. No idea of cost sorry, I just fit the damn things.

The newer ones can come with a 6 speed ~2006/7 on.

yeah I know ay, im guessing its a carbon copy of the STI 6speed but with slightly different ratios? Pretty much indestructable.

Hey just FYI what does it cost to replace a clutch in one of those 6 speed sti's/legacy

i'm sorry but LOL 400m time.... from a Legacy? or any car is really pointless (none the less important to some as I am led to believe)

/quote]

fair enough, does anyone know the 80-120 time. TED

Silly. Just drive one and see how it goes.

ok now this is really weird, I contacted a couple ppl I know in the industry and a random on trade me and they reckon that their GT's have aux imputs for mp3 players.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Subaru/Legacy/auction-291092013.htm

this one claims for sure that it does.

Anyone have experience in this area?

reckens its in the center console between the front seats

boostin can fit one for you at Winger. Do you consider that Subaru fitted?

not factory fitted

boostin - can this only be fitted to the facelift models?

Yes.

I read somewhere that 06+ has factory aux in in the centre console.

Late 06 = MY07 = facelift = optional aux port in centre console box.

$280 + (boostin's rate * boostin's time) + Winger overheads + GST

... or $280 if you do it yourself.

So im guessing this can be fitted to any of the New shape legacy's that have the McIntosh system. If so are there any draw backs? Like would it still output to all 13 speaks and not fcuk with the amp or sounds distribution?

I just seem to remember a rewiring thread in here saying that if u made certain changes to a McIntosh system it would disable the Amp although that may have been only in a situation where u were replacing the whole head unit.

Also can anyone comment on the Mcintosh systems.

Im guessing they sound pretty wicked?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
