okay i have a genuine Sti Ra V2 thats done 160kms... boosts standard 16psi eng fairly stock, V7 sti ign coils(3 plug), 3 inch exhaust, and apexi air filter kit.

its time for a upgrade....this is my 14th subaru and i'm over the "usual" dumb bolt on go fast bits. time to build something that actually has scare factor! lol over the past week been getting alot of advice from people saying do this, do that.... sort of got me confused! now i know my way around a Subaru engine (had to many to know they are s***, an blown way to many!!) and have pretty much have all workshop facilities in my garage (what Subaru owner doesn't have tools for their hand grenade) an have come up with this....

aim 400hp ETA 6 months starting from.....now!

now i realize that 400hp is alot of power but what i'm planning is building a bottom end that can handle around 500hp

fully closed deck block (dwelled and sleeved)

billet 2.2 stroker kit

race bearings to suit

scat H beam rods

100thou oversized forged pistons

arp bolts rod/eng kit

so far i come up with this.... any ideas would be great an would be a big help thanks in advance

this is just my bottom end build.. still got heads, ecu, fuel, and intake to go... hahaha dumb subarus money pitts!

thanks ej257 no thanks the 2.5 in my mind aint as feisty as the 2.0 an it still will have factory internals its not going to handle 400hp.

my block is already done. an ive got 3k just for the parts. priced up 2.2 stroker kit from redline quoted $1193.00 inc new dumb GST increase

Not in stock form. But with a massive turbo its pretty good. In fact its better than the 2.0 if built right from what ive seen.

2nd most powerful car in the club ran 360kw atw on a stock EJ257 bottom end if i recall correctly. 360kw = 482hp

a 2.5 is the only way you will get big power on a reasonable budget.

doesnt either build require a forged shortblock, a large turbo, fmic and some increased ability for fueling?

agree it would be "easier" to make 400hp on a 2.5 but no more costly than a 2.0 i would have thought.

a 2.0 with gt30 sized turbo will get you there on factory sti heads.

posibly funky, but a 2,0 is going to be pretty sore after pushing numbers like that.

you know the saying. theres no replacement for displacement, except for cubic dollars

If your going for such good gear get some better rods - no point overbuilding the block and having cheap rods.

Billet stroker kit - what does that mean ?

Its as easy to get 400hp from a 2.0 as a 2.5.

I'd say its cheaper to get 400hp from a 2.0 than any other block.

The 2.0 just takes longer to spool up !

i wouldn't have thought 3k would get you all of what you have in that list, unless that sleeved & dowelled block was really cheap along with the stroker kit, what type of sleeves are they.

I'd blow 3k on some CP pistons, Ross rods, machined closed deck block & bearings, & leave it 2.0l

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
