Factory GTB ride height

Flat4

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at buying some bilsteins with standard springs to put in my TS-R. Does anyone know the factory ride height of a legacy with GTB bilsteins in it?

Would like to know how much they will lower my legacy, if at all, so I can decide whether or not to buy some lowering springs at the same time.

Also, what lowering springs does everyone recommend for BG5's? King springs seem to sit too low at the back, and apparently Tein springs are no good?

Cheers.

My mate had a Legacy Grand Wagon and fitted Bilsteins from a 1998 GT-B. Raised it to an obscene height front and back.

Why do you say that Tein springs are no good? Friend of mine has Tein springs in his '03 WRX wagon - says they're MINT! Infact, he's trying to convince me to get the same springs in my WRX sedan (sedan version springs, of course..) but have chosen to upgrade to some aftermarket shocks and springs.

Get KYBs! Not the lowest in the world, but why on earth would you want to go lower... Haha, it'd be as if you didn't care about handling, and only wanted looks! That'd be stupid!

Interesting to know, but that's exactly the same ride height I had on the Bilsteins. BUT.... I had swapped the springs on my Bilsteins.... The story goes; I bought the car, and figured someone had fitted LIFT springs to it, as it easily sat as high as an outback. So I bought some "GTB" springs to fit, but found that the GTB springs required a different top hat up front... In the end I used the rear springs from the "GTB" set, and the front springs off a V3 STi. It was perfectly level, and looked as pictured above.

(genuine leg-pull/poke fun at myself for having to have my car sitting on its ass...... for looks... )

When I put Bilsteins in my '99 TS-R it was almost exactly the same height as the originals. So I bought some Tein lowering springs. They definitely stiffened the whole ride but made it handle far better than with stock springs.

It went from this, (Bilsteins, non-lowered):

To this, (Bilsteins, with the teins):

Lowered it about 30mm

I'm stoked with the improvement in handling. Next on the list is sway bars from a GTB if they fit, and then some lowering springs (would like some H&R's)

Nice bro..yea the bilsteins improved my TS-R's handling heaps. Wait til you put the lowering springs in, then itl handle like a dream! Keltik and I put Teins in my legacy and the improvement in handling was massive, plus it looks way better lowered. How much did you get the GTB mags for?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
