Whistling = Boost Leak? True or wrong?

Hey, I got a Legacy RS Twin Turbo that whistles when you put your foot down, always thought this was the turbo whistling but just saw a RS on trademe, and he said his car whistles meaning a boost leak, does this mean its not the turbo whinding and is a boost leak instead?

could be either

take a video and sound clip of the sound...turbos do make a spool "whistle" sound if u like...and a pod filter will make this louder...but whistling can also be damaged fins in the turbo or it could be a boost leak

And considering that the "trademe" guy is trying to sell his car saying that it is a Boost leak is better than saying it is a farked turbo

yea alota sharks on trademe saying yea its got a boost leak when its actually a fucked turbo....or the classic one "i think it just needs a tune bro" when the motors just completely fucked haha

My stuffed turbo sounded way worse than that....

Our old BG5 had a primary that sounded almost exactly like a police siren in the distance with the rise and fall of revs around town. Had more than a few passengers over the years looking around for the PD.

My turbo whistles as well but it's only at high boost (ie over 1 bar). Normal boost it's fine. Maybe I should take a recording of that!
