who is the best tuner for subarus ? Gary Cappa ,Torque performance etc

Hey all what to get my v7 sti tuned after xmas and was wondering who you think is best for a tune ?Can get mates to do road tunes but how good are they really as you have no true power figuers from before and after?

its all about feel, if u want a power figure to show ppl then go dyno but i would be happy with a road tune as long as i didnt have like 1000 variable bits on my car like i do

i've had tunes with both torque and gary. i was unimpressed with torque's result and even less so with their pricing. as such i went to gary who had done work for the previous owner of my car. 5 years later i'm still getting work done with him and am happy every time

infact my car is currently with him now and he's tuning it early next week

Gary did a fine job on mine, was easy to deal with and gave advice freely and readily. Car drives great. Most tuners will give you before-and-after dyno plots.

Dtech Motorsport in Tauranga are good at tuning subarus, tune many and very good at what they do.

Have done all the work on my car and very happy with it.

Do alot of race cars and big power builds.

Im not a fan of road tunes, I had one done on my old sti, it was a long way out once it got on the dyno.

i went to speed source not long ago, reasonable price and was happy with the power. 212kw on my 7 with only a tbe exhaust.

Asking myself the same question at the moment too. Thinking I might try SpeedSource this time around but have been to Garry Capper in the past and he has been great.

gcp is the man when it comes to link ecu etc

had my previous rexs tuned there with link ecu and was impressed

not so impressive when tuning stock v7 ecu tho imo

If I was anywhere near Auckland, then Speedsource would be the only place I'd go.

Gary (GCP) is a really good tuner and so is kent (speed source) ive had tunning done by them both. Gary is more friendly and gives advise kent not so much but kent has heaps of dyno time i have found that his dyno reads quite a bit higher then other dynos even at the same power, not too impressed about his service at the moment ether.

My advise go see Soichi at ST HiTech he is the man. Hes close, good prised, full of good ideas, doesn't talk bull s@#t and his dyno is bang on.

Soicihi at ST hiTech, in penrose/silvapark? went and saw him once, very friendly.

did some asking about. if you have a mitsi/nissan, hes the man to see. but he has poped a quite a few subbarus i have heard.

even though he was close, i was gunna go with gary

Why not impressed with Kent/Speedsources service atm?

When everyone is commenting on best tuner/worst tuner, are you looking at your maps to see how much attention to detail has gone into them? Or judging purely on how the engine feels afterwards?

Never answers his phone and when you get hold of the shop and leave a massage you don't get a call back.

You take your car there and it takes forever to be done hes just too busy. plus more but he is a good tuner
