Headlight bulb question

Timmah

Recommended Posts

So I've now got a pair of crystal headlights to replace the boring ones I have.

Now I know that the bulbs are H4 55/60 watt but I was wondering if I can go into Repco/SuperCheap and get replacement Halogen bulbs and they'll be white ones? Or is there any specific ones I need?

Thanks :)

or these

I personally would not BUY a no name product from trademe,Lighting on your car is very important allows u to be seen as wellas helps u see

I would buy either NARVA,HELLA or PHILLIPS bulbs

both NARVA and HELLA are available from supercheap/repco/bnt U need to look at the SUPERWHITE/ARTIC WHITE or something along that line,

the Phillips Blue Visions are pretty good having had a set on my old car.

the Hella/Narva bulbs are a hell lot better than no name brands.

It just depends on your budget really..

But do not expect too much out of the those bulbs.

They may advertise that they give you the HID look but prepare to be disappointed.

I have been told at WOF time that my head light was bule tinted and therefore not compliant, but the bulb i had suppose to be white not blue. Has anyone had any similar issue? Are the artic white sort of blue tinted? if not i might get a pair.

The way they like to make it more white is by using a blue type bulb,

So if the bulb gets to blue then it will fail a wof, as u can only have white and amber light to the front and red amber to the rear (neglecting the reversing lights )

some advice, the H3? bulbs for WRX bumper spotlights - its not a good idea to over rate them. there is no ventilation and the extra heat kills a larger trademe bulb every time. my brother found out the hard way.

Goes for pretty much any modern car set up,the bulbs either overheat and blow or the plastic headlight melts

only one way to get more light and that is MORE LIGHTS

here is how I adjust all the headlights and check to make sure they are close

first find a nice flat blank wall (white preferably), get a marker and measure the height to the cut of your headlights, easy on a normal headlight not so on one that has the jewled reflectors on these i go to the centre of the headlight (hopefully said wall and ground is flat and perpendicular) transfer this height to the wall with the marker put a line,I dont usually worry to much about left right as this means said wall and car have to be 90 degrees to each other which can be hard,Now in NZ headlights have to have a downwards inclination of 1.5% and foglights should be 3% (so the rules say) which if your headlights are 1000 mm away from wall = 15mm or 30 mm below the lines, put another line there, now adjust the lights so the cut off is on this bottom line,

OR you could take it to a workshop with a beamsetter and they could do it for u ( must put a beam setter on my new workshop wish list )

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
