whats the Gearbox code.

it wont be open. viscous as worst. an lsd if your lucky.

TY754VBAAA Trans Code

Seems like it is, one wheel spinning in the mud/gravel/Uneven surfaces

Thanks

a viscous will do that :)

il put $100 on an open front diff, viscous center and viscous rear. unless it was changed from factory.

How to tell if Front is open?

Oh so whats the next step? Shitty viscous!

look in the stickies in the GD section, one of them has a link to SDPA gearbox chart :) put your gb code in, look it up :)

Although a viscous unit should still bind eventually, once enough friction is applied to the fluid. Otherwise it is poked I would have thought.

they get old and worn and dont behave like they should from factory.

point to note sam - my outback.. when jacked up the rear diff is pre loaded and both spin the same way..- lsd me thinks :D

Funkytown you are correct.

Can these lsd be shimmed?

the viscous mechanism is a sealed unit within the diff. you may be able to cut it open but the cost involved wouldn't be worthwhile. just my thoughts, if your serious i would speak to a gear/diff mechanic. as Funky said, talk to Geartech :)

i know r200 viscos lsd can be shimmed . you push the viscos unit harder in.. may be able to do the same to r160 and 80. i have an r160 suretrac. awesome diff locks real solid as there's nothing to shim or adjust in them. need the right oil though. but red up on them and the do spin spider gears if one losses drive. ie Wheel spinning 1 Wheel. when my axle broke in Rear it would just spin spider gears and go no where. but when you say Wheel spin ie launch or power over etc just straight locked up . lol hard to explain. you may have suretrac

Im saying you may have a sure trac . may have wrong oil. like i said when mine had broke a axle it would spin spider gears. when you spin one In mud that's also spinning spiders. haven't tried mine in mud. know it locks up when its suppose to swell.

if its viscous like said before the heat generated when the fluid shears is suppose to lock the unit. I've had heaps of r200s where when it locks / shears there is still no lsd action. fit a shim to push the unit in harder and walla problem solved. but like i said Im not sure about r160 and 80. plus we don't know what diffyou have . the way to test a lsd is to measure the break away torque and the torque neede to keep it going. so to do this you need a torque wrench and to jack one Rear Wheel up and leave the other on ground and measure the torque that's neede to force the lsd to slip. if its easy to break away there is a problem . . .

I used castrol for both my gearbox and rear diff. Diff was a 1l black bottle. G box was a white bottle, cannot remember the exact names, but got replaced about 1 year ago.

Were these the right oil to use? I searched on here to know which oil to buy.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
