Couple of questions regarding adjusting boost through ebc

Hi there as tittle reads I am wanting to adjust my boost but only if I can do it safely of course. My car is a v7 sti with stainless steel equal length headers and a full 3" exhaust with one resonator and a high flow cat. I have a profec e-01 boost controller and it is currently running 14psi. I know the v7 sti can handle 17-18psi safely because of being forged and am wanting to turn the boost up to about 17. My main concern is detonation and of course ruining my engine, If I adjust boost will my ecu be able to relearn the new settings as such and adjust the fuel and timing so I don't run lean or rich? I have the prodrive model which supposedly has a different ecu if that makes any difference.

if you are really afraid of putting your boost up, my advice is to take it to a dyno place, they tune your ECB to your desire up to its maxium until ruining your engine.. they have a microphone to listen for Detonation... safe boost is 18psi and ive seen more on a GDBs

if you are in Wellington, i recommend STM they know what they are doing and do this for you. call them or email Doug and he will put you in right

Thanks for that, I am currently in Christchurch though or else I already would of gone to torqueperformance and got a stage 2 tune. Do you know of any Subaru specialists down here?

Damn, 14psi... wonder who set that up. Factory they boost 17-19psi and 20psi isn't unheard of with a free-flowing exhaust.

That's running 98 all the time though.

17-18psi on 98 should be fine as stock ones do around there anyway

yer, my forester is running 14psi, and its a standard wrx motor... the v7's as has been said around here, run 17-19psi... run it on 98 and wind it up I reckon...

He'll give you advice as to what to do if you don't feel comfortable with adjusting the boost yourself.

IMO, the best thing to do would be to get it dynoed and the ecu remapped so you make the best use of the headers, exhaust and then the higher boost while being safe on the engine.

Mine peaks at 21 but comes down to earth again round 6500 to 16 I think but yeah the safest way is on a dyno
