V7 STI running 1.5bar *help*

Ok so this thread has totally lost the plot From all the replies I figure its sweet that in 1st and 2nd, 3rd gear boosting at 1 bar then 4th and 5th its jumping to 1.5bar? Nothing to worry about?

Like everyone says, it should be fine doing that. Comes down to how you're driving and maintenance but easiest thing would be to buy a boost controller and dial it in at say 16psi that way you can allow for a small spike in higher gears without going over the supposedly factory setting of 1.3 bar or 18.85psi.

On a more educational note:

Ichi Wud u b able to update if beb can still go if there is 1.5 bar boost and no knock?

Last time we had my v6 tuned at gcp he said that it's the knock that was the bigger problem. We ended up running abt 1.43 bar in the end and that also had no knock so was deemed ok then

Even on it's latest retune another tuner ran it to abt same boost levels

It's a factory shortblock so I Wud only assume they Wud have known if beb failure was something to happen asap.

Eventually all engines fail but how soon will it fail if no knock

Just thinking of countless v7-9 that exhibit the same boost spike and many of them range from under 100km to some almost double

Anyway no troll intended but just clarifying for my own knowledge and even others who have theirs running similar boost patterns

Hits high 1.3-1.5 then comes down to 1.1 etc

The easier you drive it the longer it will last..Drive it hard and it will shorten its life.

i have a mate with one done 170km running factory boost without a rebuild and hes owned it since 70 all depends on maintence and the way u drive.

lol i know a guy that is in similar boat..has had his one for like 5 year or something now and still running mint
