came home at lunch from polytek and looked on the leads to find numbers and couldnt find any and removed injectors and the o rings were fine that i could tell. ive convinced a mechanic from work to come round for a box of alc to have a look and see what he can do 2moro so fingers crossed.

hope you de primed the fuel rails before pulling injectors

This can cause a cylinder to flood and then it hydraulics when you go to start and 9/10 times will bend a rod

  • 2 weeks later...

new sparks plugs went well as other iridium ones where fouled up, leaking fuel from one of the injectors so replacing all o rings on injectors, split rail and breather tank goin in it while im there.

yea dude u were right thanks heaps! 1 other question. there is a pcv valve (think that what its called) on the underside of the intake manifold at the back. where do i connect that when i put in a catch can as at the moment it connects to the crankcase breather.

blank the pcv at the manifold (ie remove it and plug the manifold) run the crank breather hose to the catch can

also need to consider the two rocker cover breathers and feed them into a catch can too

Have seen many issues with catch cans

try and run the lh breather to a catch can on the rh side and vise versa (means running two cans but will dramatically reduce the amount of oil in the cans)

Catch can? Why bother? my breathers go to the exhaust, Saves draining the can and no fumes under your bonnet.

Back pressure from exhaust prevented by using the PCV fitted to the lower bend on the down pipe. No smoke from behind unless sump gets over filled by even a fraction.

Works well.

so under full throttle there will be pressure in the exhaust, which will close the pcv - correct?

But this is when the engine crankcase NEEDS to breathe MOST

Having a 65mm exhaust from the bend on the front down pipe with a venturi pipe fitted at this point there is no pressure. infact there is a partial vacuum at full power of minus -4 millibar at this point. Crankcase pressure at this same power with system connected was / is plus +3 millibar. Did some careful research and tests.

As for exhaust fire?? no risk or problems there. Just a huge smoke cloud like the turbo has crapped out IF i have over filled the sump even slightly and corner real hard. Works well......Pcv sounds like a ticking tappet at idle LOL!

might be ok for street car, but NO good for track work

Subaru Ej engine will surge oil up breathers under hard cornering (esp Manfeild)

Did puke yesterday, No issues.(soopercooler tests) The rocker cover breathers have been led back to a cross piece above the crank case breather so i reckon most of the blown oil actually returns to the sump at this point, I have had an occasional comment on wisps of blue smoke at bent sprints and hill climbs from concerned spectators but is of no concern as i know what the cause is.

Fully baffled race sump will probably sort it out completely, but like you say, it's a street car so all good.

Thats how the V8 boys boys do it on a super charged set up, But they have no PCV at all, each head breather goes stright to a venturi in each header, most v8 parts places even sell a kit to do it. I've read creating a vacuum in the crank case is ment to be good for extra power, I believe some people even attach a vacuum pump to the crank case.

Indeed crankcase vacuum does increase power output

We run an extra stage on the dry sump on the super saloon just for this reason, and you can run lighter oil control ring pressure too

NOTE MAX 10"Hg, any more than this causes gudgeon pin seizures from lack of oiling

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
