Max Power from a VF30

yep that should be the case but i wud only imagine the tuner wud make the 250kw as nice as the 200kw car

otherwise seriously looking at change of tuner

a sharp drop off after peak (as i wud imagine wud be what u refering to as a 250kw with poor drivebility) sucks

like hitting a small parachute out the window after peak when accelerating

i like my power curves fairly flat so keeps that feel of pull all the way

my point being that the extra 20kw wont make or break the performance.

A 200kw atw car still feels animal on the road.

Id have a 200kw car with great driveability over a 250kw car with poor driveability any day of the week and twice on sundays.

I have a different opinion on that.

I beleive that I would prefer the un -driveablity haha I love having the ruthless clutch and discustingly loud dirty exhast noise, it's almost a statement "Yes this is a wagon, and yes it does have a race engine".

Hahaha thats just me though, undriveable- if you want the boost/launch flick the switch and hold the Fk on! (anti-lag).

In saying that it doesnt have bad driveablity you just need to know what your doing.

the actuator should be replace also, with the EBC at 65-70 percent gain it starts to fluctuate and u can hear it opening and closing, the factory one is 8psi and the spring is just too weak

my plan to fix this is going external or using this:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbo-Actuator-SUBARU-STI-IHI-VF36-VF37-1-0-Bar-14-Psi-/290601224428?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a92ec8ec

yay finally some one that can understand!!!

yeah it's like what's the point. most people here just talk for the sake of hearing their own voice, figuratively speaking.

a) i have had a setup that makes big power with poor driveability and "downgraded" it to 200kw and was massively satisfied. tuning is not the difference. part combinations is

b) i have seen vf30's make 230-240kw comfortably

c) who cares if a turbo hits 20psi or 90psi. it's how much power, torque, and where is the power that makes jack all difference to anything. running a higher compression of air to get your power is a far worse approach compared to correct turbo sizing anyway

That does not sit right with me

I don't think. Vf30 will see 240kw safely

Maybe on a knocky tune and generous dyno perhaps

But on a safe no knock tune running 98 gas on torque performance dyno Wud highly doubt it will see that figure

I hope to be corrected but sadly the vf30 won't hold boost properly to sustain that sorta figure

As u said it's not just the peak number but how well it will hold. And there is no way vf30 will hold the claimed 240kw even for 500rpm lol

Anyway if there are examples of such feats then I Wud like to see as be very interesting to see how it hold up

I'm not just saying this to hear myself talk but have tried it and spoken To few known tuners in the indrustry who have said the same

its always fun reading these sorts of threads im sure the answers have been given soooooo many times before

how longs a piece of string?

MANY MANY things contribute to the outcome of any car and thats been said many MANY times before

as per OP Steve I have listed the modifications I am planning, perhaps the title is misleading and should have read "How much power from this set up"

Given if the engine condition is in reasonable state

The basically the question Wud be with the full exhaust and boost controlle setup - what Wud be the output after a safe retune

I Wud guess it to peg at around 210kw@w on tp dyno

Lots v7 seem to be getting there anyway

Again this is all assuming reasonable condition engine and reasonably safe tune

isnt the vf30 the replacement for the vf22?

/quote]

its just the spec brought out on that model sub just like any other turbo for a set year

vorigan, what turbo do you think is best suited for a v3 sti engine with basic mods intake walbro exaust ect.aimig for around 230kw daily.

gezzz sorry the fact when done RIGHT cams will can give another 20km plus was a step in the right direction since v3 cams arnt the best and non of the rest will come cheap either will it? nor did i say head work or that v7 headers work better!!!

just do whatever you want im sure itll come out super duper fantastic i have better things to do

i know your not having a dig the cams are for a few simple reasons they reduce cly presure helping to reduce det, they reduce backpresure and increase boost responce thus making a more power on any set combo to which is all a postive thing towards what the guys trying to achive.

he can use adjustable cam gears and pickup some hp there as ive said the turbo is but a small part of making numbers im sure jon you have spent many hours getting things right it didnt happen over night.

so you reckon cams are more of a benfit rather than upgrading a turbo?

doing cams doesnt that involve a after market ecu for correct tunning?

im most likely going to go for a power fc unit rather than a link.

my stock vf23 now has 125 00ks on it and id say its coming to the end of it's day,

so id like to upgrade to a fresher unit.

cheers

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
