Looking at subs and amps

hi i have a bg5 legacy gt and have just purchased a cargo blind so im now looking at sub and amp combos can anyone recomend some im looking at 300 plus rms setups.

300+ is fairly, erm, open ended. Personally I prefer 3000+ wrms and a matched single driver but that's just me.

What's your budget, what do you listen to, just how loud do you want it.

Also do you have a preference of brand / size of sub etc, do you want what all the homies have 2 x 12? Or is a single 10" that pumps hard good enough as well?

Do you want pure SPL output or something that actually sounds very good?

ok im not a have the music up super loud sort of person but would like to go down the quality lane this time had a fusion sub last time was ok but was just dof dof

I've cut down from 2x 12" Alpine Type-R subs (very good, nice sound) to a single 8" DD in a slotted box - also not a bad sub, but I'm only putting 220W-ish RMS into it (slightly underpowered).

The Alpines definitely gave a smoother bass sound, not too boomy. But that would depend on what sort of music you're into. Either way monoblock amps are the way to go for powering subs, as most can do a 1-ohm load. I had a E-Audio 1000D which is still a good amp these days - the person that scored that for $250 got a bargain!

i just bought inclosed fusion sub and amp combo from Repco and it goes hard.Similar product (same brand) is sold at hyper for less and seems to have same stats just has a slightly different look(green vs grey speakers). I like the switch it comes with that allows you to control the bass instead of having to change settings on H.U etc..

The grey are Reactor series and the green are Encounter series. Encounter are bottom of the range, Reactor are middle and Powerplant are the best. Active packs are generally less punchy than running a sub and amp.

I like my music pretty loud(hence the ringing in my ears every now and then lol) I have 2 15inch Solo Baric kickers powered buy a 1200rms amp.. ;D

It all depends on taste really Id recommend a decent 12inch, amp and door speakers and you will be away grinning..
