Aicon won't turn off!

Took my Blitzen in to Southern Motorcourt today and had both side rocker cover gaskets done. On the way home i turned the the aircon on and after car had demisted i tried to turn the thing off but it just won't. I can turn A/C off but the unit and fans still stay on. Im totally hopeless mechanically, is it an easy fix or pain in the ass and could it have anything to do with the work that was done on it?

im guessing its just the blower that is still going and if that is the case the blower motor relay has died you need to replace the relay to stop it pull the relay out

well if its still going with the key out id suggest you disconnect the battery so it doesnt kill the battery over night and take it into the auto sparky in the morning and they will fix the problem

at a guess it will be a relay that has blown which is in the fuse box in the engine compartment

So if i look in the fuse box i should find a blown one and a simple matter of a replacement might get it going again? It turns off when the cars turned off but it comes on as soon as i start the car and just want stop/turn off.

sorry for a late reply unfortuanately a relay is the big square box and you cant visally inspect them as you cant see inside of them

Great! Ah well just have to live with it for a while until i have a bit of spare cash to get a sparky to look at it.

On a side note. Take the fuse box cover off. The one in the engine bay. Look under the lid. It'll tell you what one is the relay. Goto subaru or repco buy new one.

Once again take it back to the mechanic, it did not do this before they worked one it so they have done something.

check the wiring is all plugged in and not pinched in any bits, especially around the battery area.

sounds similar to the common aircon/heater control fault.

Mine fan stays on unless you set the fan to full & off button doesn't work.

So apparently there's a button on the steering wheel, i went through the whole process and you'll never guess what happened. I discovered a hidden button on top of the steering wheel

Haven't had a look in the fuse box yet today but will a bit later. If its a relay problem then bonus, i have a feeling though that the actual off button is munted somehow.

Common air control panel fault then, plenty of replacement ones on trademe just cost like $170-$180

Pop the on-off buttons out with a pin.. (They clip in).. Refit the little rubber button pad onto its locating pins. Refit buttons.Presto. Repaired..

Thanks again, i went nato when i got it back from mechanics and suddenly the thing wouldn't turn off. lol.

All sorted now so all good.
