Saw this video on youtube and was wondering what happened to the wrx / drifter?

A friend used to do a lot of the work on that car....Bills paid on time, in $20 notes and never more than $9999 at one time!!!! ;-)

he is referring to he pays in lots of under $10k.

Over $10k in cash financial institutions are obliged to identify customer as per FTR Act - which would raise questions.

classic case is where people make multiple deposits just under $10k to avoid detection / transactions being flagged for fraud etc.

Smarter operators use a "front" business ie cash business such as dry cleaners, dairies etc to integrate the cash via "layering" ie falsely inflating takings by adding illegally gained cash to legitimate income.

Its called money laundering as the "dirty money" comes out "clean"

He means it wasn't $10,000 because the bank is then legally required to report the deposit.

Not, of course, that that achieves much in any case because the $10k threshold also applies to "a series of transactions that appear to be linked"

I heard he was in the slammer, but then saw him on what I thought was recent coverage of drifting. Though it could of been old coverage as I really pay little attention to drifting.

Not something to talk about on public forums dudes could put him in more trouble if he is in trouble already .

As fellow car enthusiasts We should be supporting the industry and those that push it forward chatting about illegal matters and making assumptions aint helping noone
