Generic Idler Pullies

Where can you buy these?

I've got the front facing manifold and shifted my alternator across. Its a smooth idler and hard mounted about where the factory alt used to be, and just need to get a smaller one.

I cant work out what the correct term for what im looking for, nor where to find a place that has a catalog of what i want. Its not subaru genuine part so that doesnt help me.

Don't people normally just get different size belts?

What i have is nearly identical to this, but its used on the serpentine belt.

If you want to know why its becuase i run underdriven pulley wheels on the altenator and crank pulley and it causes the belt return feed off the alternator to run VERY close to the feed side

Trust me.. I need a smaller one.

crudely i run it like this. its the blue belt i've drawn between the right hand blob and the middle red blob "pulley". A smaller diameter pulley will make the gap greater.

i can sus it out but theres no such thing as generic i put evo one on mine...good ol mitzi parts...

what size do you need? does it need to be offset to fit belt? why do you want a smaller pulley?

i've already explained why i need a smaller one above. I'll pull mine off and measure / take pictures tonight.

is it the same as v5/6? i can measure mine up its sitting outside

im going to run the same setup just need to make an adjusting bracket for alt first. i just tensioned it with a bar to old alt adjuster and alt pivot bolt for now with a pulley bolted to the middle. long as nothings touching you should be ok pulleysize wise tho. i bolted various idlers on where you have yours but 50mmish would be smallest i tried so far i think. ill revisit when everything else is ready to go on tho

everybody has them just o one likes going through box by box to measure them... bnt repco partmaster asl...i can do legwork i have all the catalogues

Therell be one for your app jon. nissan or mitsi or even get one made at the higher end of expenses.

Did you mean this little bad boy on the right there guiding the cambelt off the intake cam wheel??

I have one of those wee pulley's here I removed from my brothers car when I did the cambelt, should be good for a bit,

oh rly.. what you want for it demo - would be useful to at least mock that one up if you didnt want it?

how many kms did it do?

it had done 160,000 K/m as far as i know as did the cambelt

There's alot of bearings shops around. Can usually just wander in with a few measurements (outside diameter, inside diameter and width) and they'll find something in their catalogue to suit.

for random bearings auckland bearings better than saeco normally half the price too theres another joint i just cant think who. that v7 idler looks mint size though and will be readily available. ill get one the next coupla days and check it out for my set up.

thats what i was going to suggest . dont get genuine tho! jase got one of the small ones for around $40 new from bnt i think . drop him a pm he may still have the part number

So I've measured my pulley.

Its 60mm outside diameter

38mm diameter for the inside bearing bit

And

35mm width

Looks like that one above would do the trick, I think demo is sending me an old one so I can check it mounts right then I'll get a new one, actually 2 :-)

now you do...

it is listed as a gen subaru number but ill check tomorrow but should be gen part. aftermarket buy in bulk so can sell half the price of genuine heaps of parts come like that in timing honda/nissan/subaru/mitzi.
