Up pipe/Down pipe

Recommended Posts

You haven't heard of google have you? this question could easily be answered there.

Up-pipe: don't bother, factory one is fine, using a larger diameter aftermarket up-pipe will just slow your spool down as there will be less gas pressure and velocity feeding the turbo

Down-pipe: depends entirely on what you use, the factory one _is_ rubbish though.

hahah aagreed ully abt the up pipe thing (unless u got like some monster turbo etc maybe then - dunno)

easy up to 20kw gain with a bit of tune with a dump pipe - fully recomend getting that

not stirctly true imo.

Only with turbo and exhaust housing choice, and then measuring back pressure pre and post turbo could you be making true determinations about up pipe size and its effects on back pressure spool characteristics.

*on a stock VF turbo and ecu, going overly large compared to factory uppipe size - yes will do what you've mentioned.

you can buy aftermarket up pipes standard size too. do you have a cat in the up pipe? if so gains could be had and it wont fragment through your turbo ever. the subaru up pipe has a few nasty joins too that cant be good for flow.

down pipes seem to make a good difference. bell mouth with splitter seems preferred if running internal.

not common in nz new or jdm cars

definatly upgrade downpipe - wether its siamese or divorced - 3 inch is best for flow - the exhaust is where the easiest power gains can be made - very effective

i ran one those nasty up pipes on my ver 3 sti - then changed it and dynod again - boost came on much faster - even the bum o meter said it was faster

and the stock up pipe is by no means a restriction when running a VF turbo or any facto position turbo -

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
