I thought it was pre 96 that werent allowed? Could be wrong but that was the whole evo 3 thing a while back. Ring VTNZ they will set you straight. Check how much its gonna cost you all up though but still sounds hell cheap and probably have a few hidden goodies...

From the import rules page on japaneseusedcars.com

Things to read:

To import a car to New Zealand and register it for road use it must comply with frontal impact regulations and emissions regulations.

Generally speaking for passenger cars this means 2000/1 build or newer

There may be an exception for 'special interest vehicles': Information here.

For general information on importing: Information here.

For information on importing from Japan: Information here.

Left hand drive cars generally cannot be registered for road use either: Information here.

If I purchased a car from a site like that for a track car and had no intention of registering it do I need to even let NZTA know its coming in?

Or can I just bring it in, start modding and rock up at a track day with it on a trailer?

+1 you read my mind, just buy the car pay for the shipping let it go through customs then put it on a trailer boom!

Biggest problem I can forsee without looking into at all and possibly being 110% wrong is I dont know how you go about getting an MSNZ log book for a car that's never had a warrant or rego.

I vaguely understand the process if its a road going car, but I dont know if the car needs to have been in the system for MSNZ to give it a logbook.

I don't think so... it's just a lump of metal until you try to put it on the road. You'd probably have to pay GST on it, although only on what you paid for it. And there's probably some additional taxes on bringing in a complete vehicle as opposed to a bunch of parts.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
