Snail Billet Compressor Wheels

Stoffa

Recommended Posts

Just got a message from snail turbo, the wheel is on its way. turns out the big 16g is extended tip as well, the same design as garretts gtx wheels.

Ive had a bit of a search but cant find many results online.

Does anyone know if the compressor cover off an evo td05 big 16g will bolt onto a subaru td05? Need to round up some parts to make it work

I dont know vorigan will but I thought evo 1 2 and 3 all had different variations of comp wheel 3 being the best. They all run slightly different numbers first 2 of second set by bad memory and vary in cfm. Not sure how subaru compare but they are mhi arent they I figured they werent big 16g for some reason? I have asked a couple of times on here though no response. Blade design/surface area/shape/blah matters as much as size does it not anyways?

This could be utter bullshit dont take it for gospel.

random quote from my notes said:

put it this way,

EVO is not Subaru, so what they put into evos is irrelevant to RAs.

However, early WRX/RA/RA STi use MHI\'s TD05H Turbo housings - this is 100% correct.

But, the compressor housing on those turbos is in fact using smallest 16G wheel

So, on impreza we have Small 16G

There is aftermarket, "Big 16G", the compressor wheel is really bigger than of small g.

See the picture

16gwheels.jpg

Then, there is sth called "Super 16G", which is put on evo3 - which in fact costs even more than 18G.

\

I think I found it (the proof that early WRX/RA/RA STi has Small 16G), go here:

http://www.stealth316.com/2-turboguide.htm

See, the MHI Turbo Nomenclature part, and scroll to TD05H-16G-7cm2 :

small 1.830"/2.365" compressor wheel

- number: 49178-05200

- cartridge number: 49178-09090

- repair kit number: 49178-81200

Now, if you look at your compressor housing on an early WRX/RA/RA STi \'s you will find

similar(same) numbers.

\

Actually,

I have my \'96 16g sitting right here in my office. It\'s got different numbers. 49178-06310

Can you translate that for me?

\

...I have my \'96 16g sitting right here...

Just measure the compressor wheel then:

The small 16G compressor wheel is 1.83" at the inducer and The Big 16G is 1.89"

thats what I thought, but it does have Big16G dimensions. I did have the choice of quite a few but 18G and 20G wheels looked like exact copies of genuine wheels and dont think I would have tried putting a taiwanese 3071 into an expensive garret core. Think I\'d much rather test the waters with a cheap and cheerful TD05.

if it lets go at 1.5 bar probably the worst that might happen is damage my FMIC core

Put it up on your facebook then :D people read it on there. This is accurate info above then? I didnt read it in full just thought with all the talk about billet made me wonder if they redesigned the wheel to make it better then made it billet for kicks.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
