External wastegate

Pappu1

Recommended Posts

I have heard both sides hence seeing if someone knows for sure

External gate plumbed in properly - does it need a cert

It\'s not the cheap tap it on collector and a removable pipe for Wof business

But a proper setup on uppipe and them merged on downpipe correctly

Cant be removed as easily to vent setup

I see a lot of cars get Wof with plumb back even the cheaper type setup on the collector

And Also have heard of cops pink sticker cos of it even it\'s plumbd back as should be

mine is perma plumbed, and at the time of my cert it was not an issue - 2yr ago. this may have changed since, but i know its not something my WOF guy even looks at either.

non gated turbo so its kinda critical lol... dunno how you\'d get it legal otherwise.

Any substitution of a wastegate requires certing.

LVV Threshold Guide, 13-1:

Note: LVV certification is always required for the fitting of a supercharger or turbocharger as a modification, or the upgrading of a supercharger, turbo or wastegate, or the re-chipping of electronic engine control units on turbo vehicles.

that rules out all reflashes and even link ecu

hell even the good old td06 upgrade which everyone has is illegal based on that lol

hmm also looks like EBC could also be seen as illegal damm

but in reality they all seem to fly through vtnz or most wof places... :)

Yeah they only bought that bout a year ago . Apparently changing a waste gate can have a dramatic affect on power . ::) Sounds like cop out to make it harder for Johnny to slap a gate on his cef

Does not rule out ebc. Read the words

So in summary you require cert if you fit an external waste gate but you will most likely get away with out it . Insurance claims / company\'s could be an issue tho . Illegally modified vehicle = no pay out . Doubt they would ever get to that tho

so in summary a well modifed car is fine for wof and cop checks.

being a douche and having douche mods deserves severe police attention.

have fixed for you.

Mine was checked by popo and he said o yip good boy its plumbed back in..... Haha and i failed wof at vtnz because gasket was leaking but wastegate was fine. However ebc does need to be certed now. They let me away with it :) snything that apparently changes your car to go faster by 20% or something

the letter of the law has been posted above

technically any wastegate modification should be certed

that means you *could* technically fail a wof, need a cert, get green/pinkied on the side of the road even if plumbed in.

ditto about insurance payouts, if you got a switched on assessor dude you could get caught out

theres a grillion things which you "in theory" need certing for, the majority nobody picks up or cares about, its your call as to if youre happy taking the risk

You should never get more than a Green Sticker for it as it\'s not technically unsafe as long as it\'s plumbed in. Un-plumbed = pinkie as exhaust gases in front of the cabin = "unsafe", however you feel about it.

However, this won\'t stop the cop issuing you a pinkie, because he feels like it.

I know it\'s been said before but Ffs if they made cert cheaper a lot more ppl may in fact attempt to get it

Keep the same strict standards But make it more accesible

Then ppl won\'t have issues with cost as a factor for doing mods and not cert it

Yeah bro i agree but thats unfortunatley how it is,450+ for a cert nowadays too or more last time I went it was 400. and when you want something changed on your cert. from the tme it got certed it costs more, to me its just a big circle that goes round an around, its not worth having a modified car these days, better off driving something standard at least you know you wont get hassled.

Thats the goal in reality. Be thankful modification can even be done legally here.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
