IAT relocation (standard MAF)

Recommended Posts

hey guys, looking at moving my IAT sensor, or rather, disabling the sensor that\'s in the MAF and taking the sensor wires to a post i/c sensor (aftermarket, obviously)

at the same time, should i be looking to mount the sensor into the intercooler? or into the piping (after eventually going fmic maybe)? or into the inlet manifold?

any help would be most appreciated..

If u check my build the iat (and where i usually see it) is on the pipe between fmic outlet and the throttle body. If you run tmic then directly in to core makes sense and as near the throttle body as you can on the cold side.

Good idea to have it post ic.

Into the manifold would be advised as it suffers heat soat more than the rest of the system

STi have one in the mani dont they as well? You could just fmic and mount maf in the intercooler to tb pipe like they do in \'merica.

Boon ran his where Jon said iirc check with him for results.

know some ppl use the v8 sti mani as they have the iat sensor in the mani

or u can just custom mount in mani like subaru does..

if fmic then it will be a lot easier as can mount in the pipe

hmm isint ur sti quick enough already bro

Do that :D

Heat soak is the DEVOL (you have to say it like billy madisons\' mum)

If you mount it in the manifold and don\'t run phenolic spacers it will be affected by heat soak from the manifold itself.

I put mine just to one side of the TB outlet in my TMIC. If you have a standard V7 TMIC you\'ll probably need to weld a boss on as the alloy mightn\'t take a thread too well.

excuse my naivety, but shouldn\'t a pre-MAF temp sensor stay before the turbo?

if the factory ECU is using the temp sensor for any kind of correction then the maps will be tuned to the temperature range seen pre-turbo eh?

unless of course you are playing with the tune or running aftermarket ECU?

People seem to do it. Playing with tune is whats happening here dude.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
