Its not the cops fault the cars get stolen, but tbh they don\'t do a lot when you report a theft. But then again there isn\'t a lot they can do so its a lose lose scenario.

It is good to know that there is a "Task Force" behind the scenes woping ass.

In the article it also said hundreds got parts recovered. Imagine your car gets stolen cops knock on your door a week later "We would like to return your alternator"... oh, thanks

There job would be much easier if invisible marking dots had become compulsary on all cars coming into the country .

Key thing for me in the article is one of the quotes - "Half the problem isn\'t just the theft, it\'s the market having a don\'t ask don\'t tell mentality" - people too often know the stuff isn\'t legit but buy it anyway cause its too cheap to pass up

Possibly but most likely not, most of the parts are just shipped out of the country to other parts of the world where people don\'t care where the parts come from so microdots wouldn\'t make much of a difference.

That may be true for more commercial type vehicles like Hiaces and Hiluxs etc that get shipped off to Afghanistan and Iraq. But for cars like Silvias and Legacys they are more likely to go on idiots like Little Johnys phat ceffy so he can get maximum street cred outside the fish nd chip shop .

A mate of mine had his Accord Euro R stolen by a 12 and 14 year old under instruction from their mother, as they are too young to goto jail. Until the judges step up and start handing out significant sentances to the idiots involved all the police will be doing is catching the same idiots again and again. Another thing that pisses me off is when they try to use being drunk as an excuse for their crimes, shit if you can\'t handle your piss and commit crimes while drunk you should be banned from drinking for life.
