Is it an STI engine - variable valve timing?

Power steering will need mods (lines etc). I think the rest fits, assuming its a WRX engine.

If its an STI engine, wiring loom will need mods to suit or replaced all together.

Some non sti are also avcs. Comp ratio will come into play regardless of whether youre doing shortblock or long.

if u dont wana use fuel pump controller, u can just remove the code from the ecu and it wont complain (from past experience on this type of conversion)

but yea as other have said - get the loom if u wana use the v7 ecu

its not a hard swap

Thanks guys it\'s a complete long block v7 non Sti non avcs can\'t afford to go aftermarket computer will just get wiring done so do I need a fuel controller aswell and what for? And it doesn\'t come with a flywheel is that interchangeable with the old one ?

You should be able to do this straight swap without messing with too much. However the engine loom/intake manifold/idle control is different and this is where issues will occur. If you change the engine loom you will possibly be able to start it, However idle cannot be controlled as the system is stepper motor on V7 not induction coil. If you fit the RS manifold to the V7 engine (drilling or adapter required) it will run ok, But tuning will be out of kilter therefore an aftermarket ecu will be needed. So save your coin buy a link or similar then you can do it correctly and you will have a reliable ride. Thats what I did on my 91 anyway.

Do you have the V7\'s computer? If so run that. I think you\'d be bonkers to try and rewire/convert to run on an old loom/manifold etc.

Yeah jus brought the engine have the v7 ecu and loom do will run with that if not to much problems any one know were I can get it wired up in Auckland?

There won\'t be much to wire up. You could probably do it yourself if you know which end of a soldering iron you hold and what a multimeter does.

So if I use the v7 ecu it won\'t run the idle controler ??

If you use the V7 ECU with the RS manifold and old-style IACV then it won\'t work.

If you keep the V7 motor intact, and use the manifold with the ECU etc, it will work fine.

So the V7 engine loom will be ok connected to the 91 rs loom? ,And the V7 ecu will plug into the 91 loom as well?...Was not aware that this could be done.

No, there will be some cut and solder work to be done.

But I\'d rather change a couple of wires in the footwell instead of fecking around with the manifold swap.

So I take it you have done this boon as you are sayin its only a few wires.

1st you need to run v7 half loom through engine.

2nd remove all un needed wiring from both looms

3rd sort main relay fuel pump

4th wire up fp controller

5th run obd2 and flashing plug

6 sort how how you are going to tell computer that you have no electronic speedo

7 fit engine turn rear o2 cel off.

It is bout 16-18hrs to do wiring correctly.

Also no part from the rs engine loom of ecu is interchangeable

Ok....Here is what i did. Used the engine loom for a 91 installed on the V7 manifold/engine.Single bolt ignition coils fitted. Then the only wiring alteration was for the TPS. (it moves the other way, plug is different to) Also removed the idle control from the throttle body.

Installed a link G4 plug in. This allowed easy retune as required and also negated the idle control requirement.

Simple as that.

Does that clarify "how too"?

Now do it without adding a Link. Thats like $3k on top.

Ah yes that be true!...However one should. "Do it once do it right"...Just a bit of patience whilst one saves the dough really.

Rewiring a car could lead to all sorts of angst. Not to mention hours etc, etc.

Just information not having a dig at anyone\'s method of overcoming an upgrade engine installation.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
