HOORAY for Govt cost cutting

If you need a radar to check a cars speed....is it really going dangerously fast?

Good points however:

That would depend on the gazetted maximum speed limit for that road:

Some muppet with barely 2 brain cells to rub together doing 90Km/H in a 50Km/H section is dangerously fast... Or maybe the same muppet with barely 2 brain cells to rub together doing nearly 70 in a school zone at say closing time...

Now as we all are aware their is but a few muppets ruining it for the many...

[quote name='keltik said:

Sure the radars usefull for proof, but if a cars hooning down any stretch of road at an unsafe speed it should be obvious to the naked eye

Unfortunately in our society (unlike say communist China) u]we have burdened our law enforcers (the cops) with proving the guilt and having to establish the proof (of evidence) that you are guilty of the offence that you are being fined/summonsed for[/u]...

Hence the need for a Radar/Laser so Mr Mupet's Lawyer cant go: "so constable you measured his speed with your naked eye? Tell me, how is it that your eye is able to measure that speed accurately without the aid of calibration?, When was your last eye test?" and so on and so forth...

Radars are there so they have Irrefutable proof of your/my actions for use as evidence in court, and not hearsay

Well either way i dont see why they cant just change the charge to "driving like a twat" or whatever the technical term is. Dont need a speed reading for that.

And as some smart fellah said earlier - a cops words hold more weight in court than someone who been accused of driving like a twat

The kid who crashed into me about 4 months ago has gone to court recently and pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving resulting in injury. He was going AT LEAST 70 in a 50 area and a lady pulled out in front of him. He hit her then deflected into us before hitting a light pole & fence.

I had to do a formal statement and the police werent interested in the lady at all. Full blame seems to have gone to the kid who wasn't insured, wrote 2 cars + his own car off and destroyed a fence and light pole.

This kid will now have a huge debt over his head for the next few years all because he was probably late for work and sped up down a long main road.

Speeding is a big gamble because you never know what other people will do & i think the punishment should be more

are you saying the outcome was not right and the lady was at fault, or the kid was

not punished enough?

+1??? ???

(???)But maybe he is saying that the kid is deep in the poos with debt now andhe should have been punished more(???)

Meh,

Most of this is mute anyway from what I've been told.... Highway units will still have their radar gear, some will even be upgraded to newer better systems (multi target digital tracking systems), it will just be some of the General Pool Cars that will have them removed, and half of the pool of older vehicles is being retired soon anyway, at least down here.

I seriously doubt that there will be any decrease in tickets being issued, because I seriously doubt people will stop speeding... If anything; I'd laugh if there was an increase because knob jockies will go out and think "HEY COOL, COPS HAVE NO RADARZ I CAN SPEEDZ" and they get pinged doing 290,000,000,000km/h in a temporary 30k zone or something.

Long story short; Stay in school kids.

I remember a cop telling me about the new radar systems 2 years ago.

To understand why, we examined over 300 fatal crash reports from 2008 to see what patterns emerged. Exceeding speed limits aren't a major issue. Police surveying has found that even the top 15% of open-road speeders average under the 110km/h ticketing threshold. Driving conditions However, unsafe speed for the conditions is a factor - as it was in over half of the fatal accidents we analysed. Many crashes occur on road bends because drivers take them too fast but they may be under the speed limit when they do so. Only one in six fatal crashes were reported over the speed limit - and they were well over.

The solution is simple. Make it mandatory for every car to be fitted with 4 spacies. Darwinism will do the rest.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
