Track Day Suggestions - Locations, gear, etc

Hi Guys,

So i'm wanting to take the Rex for a few track days this year if possible. I know Hampton Downs runs some, but what other good tracks around Auckland, or within a few hour drive, are there that run public track days? I see that Taupo does some as well - i've been told this is quite a good track?

As for the car, i've got an oil baffle going in as well as braided brake lines - so should be a good start out (it's a WRX STI Type RA) with the new rubber I just fitted.

Anything else people would suggest?

What about safety equipment? Am I better off to just rent the stuff there for the first few times, or actually get myself a helmet and overalls?

If you are doing playdays this is the declaration list that you will sign.

You are responsible for ensuring your car and gear meets the following standards..

Helmet and cotton overalls..

Seats and mountings..

Wheels,tyres and steering system..

Braking system..

Safety belts..

Secure battery..

Debris free driver compartment..

Adequate roll protection..if MNZ log booked..

Secure fire extinguisher..optional but highly recommended..

WOF and registration if road car..I don't think they check this..

There is no scrutineering..

Check out NZ Track day on Facebook.

These are pretty good but can get really busy. There is one on the 6th Feb.

Otherwise Pukekohe does controlled testing, check out the calender on their website for available days. The last one i went to, there were only 4 or 5 cars and 4 bikes. Its good if you want to learn the track, your car etc.. with no pressure.

North Island tracks are (North to South)

Hampton Downs

Meremere

Pukekohe

Taupo

Manfield

and possibly "Slipway" When it allowed to operate again

that's the tracks

on any given month you'd be hard pressed to find any two that DONT have "Playdays" or Local Car Club events that will let you get out and pretend to go fast at least twice a month

http://www.motorsport.org.nz/about/clubs

heck if you have a 'competition car" (ie a log book minimum) you could to the track 'test days' for about the same price as a Playday and have the track to yourself for a whole day if no one else turns up

Manfield's for example is on Fridays at least once a month, next is tomorrow from around $100 I think iirc

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
