Gen 4 engine in BH?

Hey all I'm relatively new to the Subaru scene as I've just bought a BH legacy and I was wondering, will a turbo engine from a gen 4 legacy be a good swap to do in my car, will i just need to swap engine loom and ECU? what will I need to do to make it work? and will it need a cert? Etc

All help appreciated :)

ooh well out of my tech experience there but yea thats the hard way tor repower a BH I'd say

whats wrong with your car?

and what revision is your Car (Check the Applied code on the ID Tag near the passenger side strut tower under the bonnet) the letters BH5* < where * is the important letter

Just the Km's are getting a bit too high for my liking and just wanting to put something in that i can get a bit more power out of, ive got a 99 BH5B, any suggestions on what i should do to repower my BH?

Only because of the way I went about it, parts used etc. Can be done very cheap and easy, especially if you use your original engine.

Single turbo exhaust manifold/uppipe - $50-$100

VF single scroll turbo - $150-$300

V5/6 WRX A7/A8 ECU - $50-$75

Y-pipe for TT TMIC - $50

Make new DP to suit, or:

Single turbo GB crossmember - $50

Single scroll DP - $50-$100

Or add $1000-$1500 and fit a complete second hand version 5/6 STI engine and a J2 ECU ($125-$150).

Or a new V7 STI shortblock, V5/6 STI heads, J2 ECU.

Yep my TT is pushing the 200kw mark with all bolt ons and tune. Sure it's 205kms old, but it has shown no signs of giving up yet.

I would only convert if the engine ****s itself and even then I might just rebuild the TT or ditch the car and buy something else.

Would the gen 4 motor using the factory ECU also need the dash, key cluster to actually work?

How many Ks has this car actually done? Strip down the engine you have. throw a set of rings at it and give it a brief once over and single turbo conversion it while you’re at it maybe? Mine is knocking on 200,000kms and runs nicely at 200wkw

Different revisions require a slightly different approach, if its revision d you can reflash the ecu around the mods...

Gen4 swaps are... Difficult, without going to stand alone ecu

Definitely. Most noticeable for me in around town driving, passing and tight cornering. Even with a well sorted VOD and zerosports sequential controller the VOD could still catch me at the worst of times. Also has a lot more potential now with any aftermarket ECU fitted, plus:

Easier to work on, maintain and modify.

Less problematic, easier to diagnose.

More parts availiable, OEM and aftermarket.

Tidier engine bay.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
