What are these? Fuel question

Trying to identify a fuel smell, took back seat off and these things seem to be filled with liquid?
 What are these/is that normal? (V5 WRX STI)

 

 

Any help appreciated

some peeps have reported fuel smell from using rubber hose on split fuel mods, Not sure what that photo is of? Can't really tell what it is. As far as I know there shouldn't be any liquid in there tho...

 

Also check the fuel pump rubber seal hasn't been damaged

that looks like under the back seat.. then no, should be no liquid there

Yes, you definitely have a leak. Top of the rear windscreen or door window? Or someone spilt a drink in there?

Likely all three haha. I'm just trying to sort the fuel leak first

Not sure if this helps, but there shouldn't be any lines passing under there. The fuel lines go across the tank to the passenger side and along the sill. If you line up where the pump assembly hatch is, those holes can only really go straight onto the top of the tank.

If it's fuel on the back seat it will either be the gasket seal on the top of tank for the fuel pump cradle or a split hose off the cradle that is spraying under pressure (unlikely)

is the liquid in the holes fuel?

It can't be fuel... the fuel tank is exterior to the cabin, not part of it. you could cut that whole section out and not have a fuel leak.

DacerX's car had a fuel leak caused by the seal on the fuel cradle being perished. Under boost/acceleration it would cause fuel to bubble out from the back seat, around the area highlighted by OP. At first we couldn't think of why petrol was bubbling from that area.
