The 3.0 Ltr is sweeeet! They have soo much torque, and they sound like a race car when you're boosting it around. I'd be sorely tempted to go for one over the GT, though the GT will win with higher top end speed.

I've driven the 2006 3.0R I think it was, and you wouldn't be disappointed with the http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=211780948 Drive around at less than half throttle and they still feel fast, and their cornering is amazing, they grip the road like theirs no tomorrow, from memory they have 235's on the wheels, but correct me if I'm wrong. Fuel economy seems pretty good on it too, though if you put your foot down, obviously you will use up alot of fuel

The newer 3.0R is absolute pure awesome in a can.

The older 6'es can still haul ass but have got nothing on the newer motor.

This has been proven time and time again whenever i try to pass clunt

6'es are generally more reliable, less stressed and cheaper to run than the twin turbo varieties

I'll be seriously considering the 6 next time, but for my first subbie I really wanted a turbo'd model as I'd never owned a turbo'd car ;)

haha, you wont be disappointed with the Turbo, the 2.5 GT new model will win against the 3.0R, but the torque out of the 3.0R is amazing. Someone should get the 3.0R and make a thread to supercharging it, It'd turn alot of heads!

turbo will always "win" over a 3.0 N/A in speed/acceleration

3.0 is BETTER in regards to reliability/fuel consumption and NON-BOYRACER factor

650hp H6 Hillclimb and Sprint special which is powered by a twin turbo charged 3.0litre, six cylinder Legacy engine, and

produces 6-650 horsepower.

+1 For fuel consumption and non-boyracer factor

Ive got a 2002 b4 rs30 factory pearl paint lowered on 17s . Ive had stis and ra rexs and 9 bc5 rs,s and the rs30 is by far the best makes power all through the rev range good for cruising and passing . Ive had a few problems with it tappet cover gaskets were done at 42000km and blew the radiator 3 weeks ago at 49000km . I was told by subaru in Invercargill that its common for rs-gt30s . But dont be put off thay are awesome and theres not may around in that shape

Guys,

The olds are looking at rolling their current late 90's Legacy for a 2004 3.0.

The old man has quizzed me as to whether the 3.o 6 cylinder is definitely chain drive - I was pretty sure it was, and it's an alloy housing which almost makes me certain. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Cheers,

btw I did have a quick look around but couldn't find much - time is of the essence so I thought I'd check with the experts!

My workmates got a 99 Lancaster with the 3L engine in it and he uses it for commuting and he just loves it, he has literally said it's the best car he's ever owned, he sweares by it aye, he gets around 550-600km's per tank and he even said that it saved his life, he hit a cow at 100kmh in the fog, car was almost a write off, the firemen told him that if he wasn't in that car he wouldn't be here today!

hmmmm, i'd be very interested in building an engine like this, single turbo though, ive had enough twin turbo, whats a ej30 engine worth these days?

twin is quite good if you put it on engines that breath a little more than the 2L 4 pots..

the run in sequential or parallel a lot better. I think the mitsi twins are still sequencial but you dont notice any VOD like in the legacies.

and yes.. the flat 6 twins from germany go alright :D

Yea how do the mistis ones work? mates got a gto, ugly heap of shit. but no vod.

Also another mate had a vr4 legnum, reackons it was dual pressure i.e parallel. it went mean. kept up with my old RS, which should have been about 200kw atw

You mean EZ30? About this much...

There not EZ30R's though, you would expect to pay a bit more then that for the "R's", but it all depends on who you know.

We've owned a Lancaster 3 litre for almost three years, and it's been very reliable. My wife drives it most of the time and she really likes it. Done 300,000kms.

There was one glitch. It developed a radiator leak a year ago, and my wife accidently overheated it. I got a local Subaru specialist to pull the engine out, and I took it home & pulled the heads off. Had the valves & seats recut & the head face surfaced. Fitted new valve stem seals & new cam chains and re-assembled it. The local Subaru specialist re-installed it and it's been running fine since.

The engine is a work of art internally. There was no wear visible on any of the cams, cam buckets or cam bearing cavities, hone marks still clearly visible in the bores, and everything looked capable of covering 500,000km effortlessly.

Just don't cook one . . . .

Threads like this are good :)

If you want to get a 3 litre, make sure you get one of the newer generation ones (the EZ30R).

Otherwise, they are blissful to drive, they make torque that any 2L could only dream of down low. The only thing i wish they had was variable cam's on the exhaust port as well as the intake.

They are slightly lighter than the 2.0L's, i lost 6kg of weight when i converted my old gtb from the twin turbo ej20r to the ez30r. They are slightly longer, as expected, but only by 45mm off memory and 55mm in the top left hand corner on the cam chain cover.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
