i tryed hooking it to three wire that go to the plugs on the igniter box and they didnt work so i wouldnt have a clue.

There is a wire that goes to the back of the ECU that also feeds the tacho signal to the perfectly fine factory tacho.

Need to find the ECU pinouts for your model car and then patch into that most likely. I doubt you'll ever get much info on here about whether or not that is the right feed as most people will just continue to take the piss out your tacho until you give up and ask somewhere else.

Don't listen to them (the naysayers) I had the same problem and all i wanted was a feed for a shiftlight, but i found it easier to google a pinout for my comp and splice the signal wire.

There are a few pinout on this site, i surgest(sp) you use the search.

if its a Subaru or one of the many popular Japanese makes then try the section called Gadget Manuals

almost all in that link will have ECU pinouts you want
