Value of CD Blocks?

How much are closed deck blocks worth? Quite rare aren't they?

Not too common. Found only in the ol' 20Gs.

Are you after one? I have two, and only need one of them

Both are from a Gen 1 Legacy GT - one is facelift, the other is pre-facelift. I'll be rebuilding one of the two with heads for my Legacy sedan...if I can get that sorted easy as heck then I have no real reason to keep it A few around here seem to have sold 'em for about $50-odd.

Originally I was going to rebuild the spare, but for me it'll be easier to just get a PBMS build motor.

Yeah they're all centre thrust.

Shale - one of those engines in Reubens shed isn't a closed deck, if those are the 2 you're talking about.

Well it doesn't have the markings by the starter to say it is. Chances are it isn't a CD though.

Guess I need to tear it down and have a proper look. If it's a bloody open deck, I'll use the spare sitting around (sorry Ryan!). If it's closed...woop woop!

Both engines suffered from overheating, so both need work.

I bought a CD short block for $50, already honed (but needed doing again).. you'd get one for under $100 somewhere

They don't as far as I'm aware, considering the fact they were only in circulation from 89-95 generally falling in numbers later in the build year.

Ah ok, I know sweet nothing about them as you can tell. So 1996 onwards they stopped producing them? And replaced them with what?

Plain jane open deck til the ver7 (?), where it was semi-closed.

I've got a completely stripped closed deck block. i.e just the two block halves. they are in good nick without any nicks or scrapes in the bores. It has some surface rust on the bores now though, but that won't be a problem if you are putting over sized pistons in it.

Was a running motor that I stripped down a couple of years ago to rebuild a forged block for my GTB but never got around to it. I've got an EJ207 now so no real need for it.

I'd be after $100 for the two halves and I'm in Christchurch.
