Hey :D Wondering abou the cost of a turbo

don't mind them, we've all asked this question before at somepoint, be it 5,10,15 etc years ago....

i currently have a 1.6 NA impreza, a spare small turbo, a workshop with tools, time and money and i STILL wouldn't bother, even for a laugh.

yes i know these engines are gutless.. a turbo solves that problem but creates many more.

transplant in a turbo engine. there are many differences between turbo and NA, compression ratio for a start.

then when u start braking your gearbox, axles etc transplant in a wrx drivetrain.

along with suspension, brakes to handle the new power

now you've built yourself a wrx. what did it cost? a bunch. and you've still got a nana-spec interior :P

hey im new here, was just wondering how much you guys think it would cost me to turbo charge my 1995 subaru impreza 1.5l man.

If you are mechanically minded and are prepared to have a crack at wiring it yourself you can prolly do it for reasonably cheap.... but for ease i'd just buy a factory turbo model.

Haven't heard that one in AGES!

Also: if not trolling, OP...don't bother modifying the 1.5 unless you want to do it properly: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f145/t103292-team-rd-27-gc8-sti-race-car.html And by properly, I mean PROPERLY!

^ It is worth the read.

Seriously, the 1.5 GC1 chassis is not up to the task of being lugged around by a WRX or STi motor. The 1.5L motor is not up to being turbocharged, the gearbox will ASSPLODE if you do, and then if you somehow manage to survive (or modify EVERYTHING), as above you still have the C'Z interior.

If you have about $15k minimum spare... get a built STi motor, an STi gearbox, 4pot/2pot front/rear brakes, basically ALL the gear from an STi or aftermarket improvements. Set them aside. Strip the BEJESUS out of your car. Scrape/freeze all the sound deadening off. Scrape the silicone out. Seam weld the entire car. Weld/bolt a roll cage in. Put two racing seats in, add appropriate harnesses. Get an STi kit or better, as you install all your set-aside STi/better gear. Respray the whole thing a crazy colour. Then race the f**ker!

Alternatively...save for a WRX or STi. It's cheaper and less painful, but nowhere near as fun or crazy.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
