Suggestions MM2011
« on: April 26, 2010, 04:37:52 pm »
not a flame/blame/criticsim thread - just start thinking ppl!

those who are keen for the same - there are limited weekends free in Camp Rangi Woods calendar..

one thing I would like to change : while Dave had the track under control - I would prefer to revert to the tried and tested 8 car at a time for 5 laps (3 hot 2 cold) instead of the go till you want to come back in method

I say go for it, you cant kill an engine from over/under fueling it so why not try?

the 8 car method works really well, everyone gets good amount of runs etc.
dont know how the track day went so cant comment on that. i know for smaller number of cars, the go till you burn out thing works well

Except for that one point where there were 14 or so cars out :D I think the go for as long as you want method actually went very well and was certainly enjoyable. Whilst the 8 car at a time method certainly is preferable for those who want times, you have to remember that around half of all the people who turn up to these things are essentially novices and don't really give a crap about their times.

with option to let the "race prepped guys" to extend their sessions of course...

also date/venue etc - not just how it was run (from my view pretty dis-organised) which only lands on me :P so I can say that!

everyone else dealt fine with the info i had on hand and could not have done better job in my eyes....

constructive criticism please :P

SI : cool start on the phone Dubbed and find us track+accomodation+activities - all concepts welcome

I fully agree. This was so far the BEST run Megameet IMO - if only people would return to base instead of whining about missing out :P Home base is home base!

8 or so on at once would be really good. I managed to get a feckload of time in by cheekying my way on at any given time, and the pits were often clear with no wait, but it will be nice to try the 5x then in for size on Manfeild.

I have no other qualms about the day. I just need to put more petrol money aside next year as I am now skint :P

And +1 to MercuryFree - half the people are novices or amateurs, and the free-for-all was without incident. Do we trial a mixture? An hour several times a day for timed, organised on-off...and free-for-all the rest of the time?

routine is best set early on - and changing tack in arvo can throw a few ppl out

times are good to note improvements/advancements in technique too

we had under 30 cars IIRC so we were lucky there was little to no wait for turn around....

TBH all i did was put three things together - track/accom and Tui - rest was play by ear - its not hard - get price for track and availability, accom isnt necessary but adds to the atmosphere, and without at least on extra event/cruise its just another trackday

budget is also kind of good to know - $3-$4k is handy to have in bank before thinking about confirming track dates... most tracks dont mind penciling you in...
