<waits for Jake the muss bignoting to commence>

I usually do like 8*80,8*90 and 8*100 sets on the bench.

Think one time my league team did max and i did 6*130kg but im not that strong at the moment.

I actually find pressing with dumbells is better for overall shoulder/arm strenght.

Barbells sure look cool with all the big weights but the DB give your "supporting muscles" in that general area more of a workout.

sweaty man gyms are the way to go!

booming music, rusty free weights and plenty of manly encouragement are all you need to get toned up!!!

keep waiting mate, but i like how you posted your own bench stats.  classy.

on the other hand, dumbbells certainly do work out the smaller auxiliary muscles more than the barbell bench press would, as it takes more effort to stabilize each arm separately.  that is why you will find that you can lift more weight on a barbell than two dumbbells combined.

DPI- speaking of legpress, seen this video?

but my bench press stats arent particularly impressive???

So im not sure how you see the bignoting there.

There are several guys in our team who out bench me pretty comfortably.

On a funnier note i had to rescue this guy one time in the gym.  He was a pretty little guy and the squat he was trying to do crushed him and he was bent double on the floor with the weight holding him there.

Felt sorry for him, but luckily he was ok

Damn straight...

We used to alternate bar weight with dumbells; did have one machine though (goddamn legpress!), inverted legpress machine.

I made the mistake of outdoing a mate (who was constantly braging about how ripped he was...and to be fair, he was, but he was such an arsehole about it), so he managed 600lbs and thought he'd won...i slapped an extra 60 on and showed him who's boss...

Well, did it when he couldn't...and felt like i was gonna die...

...dumb idea as i tore the muscle partly off the bone... ::)

That area of the leg (and it was around 19 years ago now) is still numb from nerve damage...

But, i WON  ;D

I got to 500kg  on the leg press then changed to squats. Now waiting for my knee to come right  :P

Yeah...the cable on the assisted pullup/chinup/dip combo machine at my gym is starting to fray...someone 'big' is so going to injure themselves on that thing.

lol, did you teach him about power cages and/or squat racks?

Aaaaaand back on topic...

FIRST NIGHT IS TONIGHT. 7pm.

Since there are so many new people this class will be more of a walkthrough, so unless you already know the ropes don't expect to go home too dead :)

We've also set up a new gazebo outside so there is shade and a proper floor out the back, still connected to the main gym. ZOMG SHADE AND BREEZE. ;D

come on it is.  It is normal to try and fire people up about their mothers.  watch most comedies particularly american and its very prevelant.

Is your mum a qualified PTI?

Qualified personal trainer and nutritionist, masters in the latter, diploma or two in fitness training/personal training, and degree in chemistry - so she knows what she's doing.

And sorry to tell you, but the general public draws the line at making obscene comments about young women's mothers. You can b!tch at me all you want, but leave my whanau out of it.

Get the pinch test done, especially for those of u wanting to bulk up. Good way to measure growth apart from stepping on the scales.  ;)

Yeah DPI said she gave him a real good physical.

With all those bits of paper we now know why!!!
