  4. I wouldn't pay more than half that Look past the nice wheels and it's just another 200km old early wrx, one of thousands. Yes that's about 8k per year but no matter how you dress it up it's getting long in the tooth For the same money - literally - you can have one ten years and two generations newer and less kms We'll be out of fossil fuels before that thing starts to be worth the asking price. If you like the early shape maybe look st a v5/6, the facelift holds value and is worth the cost and still keeps the classic lines. If you look outside trademe and car dealers you'll see a much bigger range available - most dealers don't bother with cars this age or type anymore as they're just a time bomb in their eyes, and fair enough too

  7. I don't think an "ordinary" WRX is ever going to become collectible, they just might bottom out in value a little higher than some other cars. If I was spending $8k I would get something a whole lot newer with less KMs and an STI badge on it.

  8. This is just a general heads up to all who may come on the forums - Remember that what is said online here is not private info, anyone - and that means anyone - can read it. This includes the warranty advisers from Subaru, the NZ police, Insurance Assessors, people of that ilk who you may not want to know certain things you may have done. Allegedly. If you post on here about the mods you put on, then removed to claim the gearbox you blew up, or the wall you hit at hampton downs - they do look on here, especially if you have a sticker on the car saying "I heart this website". Double points if you put up photos or videos with your number plate visible. It's not an old wives tale - there are members on here who have seen their post history brought up in court proceedings, I personally know folks who have had warranties voided after photos emerged of cars at track days - and know of at least one person who's been double hit with a declined insurance claim followed by insurance fraud case for an accident claimed while on the racetrack Don't be dumb

  9. I got the rockwell rotary buffer from supercheap and what a heap of S*** that thing is, speed 1 doesn't even turn, speed 2 turns so slowly you can't even put it on the paint without it stopping instantly and speed 3 is like too fast to even polish with lol. Maybe mines faulty I dunno, but def stay away from them. I've heard good things about the rockwell DA which I'll probably go for next. product wise you'll need cuttiing compound, wax for polishing, a cutting pad, a microfibre/polishing pad, clay bars, soft yellow sponge wax applicator pads, microfiber towels (at least 6-10) and I think that should get you started pretty nicely. Aliexpress has these dirt cheap if you don't mind waiting a month or so. Do yourself a favour and grab the microfiber cutting/polishing pads, and get your product from the likes of pacer.co.nz or the sprayshop here in chch I love meguiars but the NZ supplier is a frekn wanker and slaps like a 300% markup on the stuff. If you import it from USA it's 1/4 the price (if anyone knows a local shop importing it and not charging through the teeth please let me know lol) , supercheap wants 46$ a bottle in usa they charge under 10usd lol. As for polishing tips I'm a real amateur lol, follow the youtube videos from AMMO, he explains things quite well and it helps sort of put things in context.

  11. I would be looking for version 4 sti 1998.. Right in the middle of the classic era.. Still has the early look but with the face lift interior and to my eye the finest of its time.. Get a Type R coupe or RA 4 door if you can find one in your price range..

  12. I have a 37 front housing and turbine I want to get mashed into the P20 exhaust housing. Any advice/experience welcome I don't want to be 'that guy' when I do finally ask a certain someone to do it for me.. Thanks

  13. You give me your 42. I'll go buy my 24 back, and put the housing on my 36, you use the sweet hybrid on your group build, and the 37 goes on your daily. Job done!

  14. I can't tell if you're making a great dad pun with "cool" club or not You can make them invisible if you want to keep a stock looking car, but no matter how you dress it up anything you do to improve top mount efficiency is pissing in the wind compared to just putting the cooler in a proper position I know it's a bit crass but my point stands - you can faff about with all the ducting and heat tape and oversized scoops you want but it's ultimately still going to cook itself as soon as the car is stationary for more than a few seconds, and with what a front mount kit costs these days it's a hard to argue proposition. Ive got a couple of small slimline fans in the garage if you want them, I fitted them to the underside of a v7 sti cooler on a gtb and whilst it was semi effective, it still paled in comparison to a cheap trademe front mount As well as that, it's worth going to the effort of straightening out of straightening out your top mount fins - it blows me away how many cars have them all flattened down, it renders the cooler near useless when air can't go through it. Ditto for upgrading to silicone / sti joiner pipes, the old corrugated plastic ones aren't too great. Oh oh also the old line about moving a pod filter into the guard if you have one, give things a head start not a handicap

  15. Put the plastic under tray in. No seriously. It creates a low pressure zone by the gearbox, effectively sucking air through rad and engine bay. Back to back coolant temp and iat monitoring confirms drop in temps

  19. Nah, 30 and 34 share the same P18 housing from the factory, im running a P20 of a 22 on my 34, they all have the some chra v band dimensions. Pretty sure the only difference between a VF30 and 37 is the fact that it has a P25 exhaust housing, think the chra and comp wheel/housing is all the same.

  20. Well, more this weekend, but: Removed sump. Installed pbms baffled sump. Hooked up a smoke tester Removed, repaired and reinstalled up pipe (jeeeesus what a prick of a job) Drove it, it made a horrible whistle on boost Found leaky downpipe, fixed that too. Found icv gasket blown out, fixed that too. Tightened up all intake clamps, no leaks, mean. Got under the car, found leaking gasket between header and up pipe, fixed that, took it for a test drive Hoooooooly craaaaaap, what a different car. So much more responsive, it sounds better, drives better, very happy Fueling is up the creak because of the leaks in the up pipe, hope to get that sorted this week. Things left to sort.... 22. Once you give in and start to install creature comforts into the car it's a slippery slope. Vanity mirrors will be followed closely by soft suspension, sheepskin car covers and grape scented air fresheners.

  23. To be fair a lot of people don't use their real name on the bookface - unless that dudes name really is Hemi'n'Tanisha RFB Southsydefolyfe As it is the thing I hate on the facebook pages is I can't put the normal smartass replies I'd like to because it's actually me, not this alter ego known as Marky

  24. what sort of little F***wit uses a fake name on facebook to buy/sell/trade parts? He's probably running a chop shop on the side dodgy C***. Also no tracking number=bs in my eyes, supply the item, a refund, or proof of shipping. Not buyers fault seller is sloppy. Court will see it that way too.

  27. Anyone going by a pseudonym on something like a Facebook buy/sell page immediately screams dodgy. Enough people on here know exactly who I am and that's completely fine with me because I'm not looking to screw people over. Anyone using different "real" names is shady IMO. I'm all for this, none of that "turn the other cheek" crap, use the biggest legal stick you can find because chances are shady dickheads won't show up and all of a sudden they're getting arrested for failing to appear
