the ecu map is just set up for RS V1 and V2 on greys from factory. V3 onwards was yellows or bigger.

the v1/2 ecu is 4 plug and like koom said is a REAL pain in the arse to retro fit a v3/4 ecu into.

just stick with greys, and a td05, get the STI ecu and your away - simple.

easier and cheaper for you to just chip the ECU to run the yellows....thats what ive done.

otherwise changing your loom to suit the 3 plug ECU's and get a 6S

no dont run yellows.... there is no need.. its tuned for GREYS... even the v2 STI got GREYS.

yea well if he want to run yellows (like it sounds like in his post's) then there IS a need to do something dont ya rekn...and yea the V2 STi is tuned for grey's but thats not what he is asking :D

sorry then he should explain his "need".. if staying 4 plug and not a moving to a chipped ecu tuned for yellows (which there is no mention of).. there is no need.

its been stated greys are ok up to a reasonable kw and well capable of coping with a td05 and factory boost levels.

so no as it stands.. no need to run yellows IMO.

edit: checking what he asked "will moving to yellows still work as per normal" then on the information hes provided i'd say nah.

What chip are you running smokn? and also what setup have yu got? Okey well just to clear things up.. This is how I see it.. I would like to run Tdo5, To save time Possibly chip my Current Ecu, Yellows, split fuel rails, How ever the yellows I more so want to run for a future thing If i decide to go for more Kw..

if you get a chipped ecu matched to yellows - then yes get the yellows, and wait to put them in when you change the ecu.

if you get anything tuned for greys.. use the greys..

fairly simple right? dont go putting in yellows on a grey tuned ecu "for the furture".. thats just not smart.

running a chipped ecu, this be tuned for yellows right?yellows

V2 STi AFM(apparently)apparently has nothing to do with it, this is the same AFM for BOTH the WRX and early STI's, its green - what gets used for GREYS

td05,front mount, walbro, custom intake with custom dump pipe to a 2 an a half incm, cant remember if theres any more right now :D

first answer - im not really up with the play on price of early ecu's sorry.. on the face of it and uneducated guess says that looks expensive.

that link you posted.. you realise its tuned for greys right? leading to second answer...

second answer - "If I decide i want to run yellows I could just get it chiped later on yeah?" this reads like you havent read anything i just wrote.. that being "dont go putting in yellows on a grey tuned ecu "for the furture"".

SAVE the injectors and put the ECU (tuned for yellows) and the YELLOWS in at the SAME TIME.. :o :o :o :o ??? ??? ??? ??? far out

yea chipped for the yellows and a orange AFM,

i only chucked the V2 STi AFM in coz i thought it was better than running my original one...

(Didnt know they were the same even tho it has a green sticker coz its off a STi),

Will Have an Orange AFM on shortly...

Will Have an Orange AFM on shortly... umm yer.. im suprised it goes at all on the green one. ::)

its simple stuff honestly.. match the turbo/injectors to the ECU and its tune for least issues and longevity of the motor... mix and match at your peril.

i dunno how many times you want me to say it. ???

I understand its tuned for grays, Hence me saying if I wish to run yellows In the future, could i get a chip to run yellows on this ecu... Until then yes stick with the grays..

plenty of options out there 4 ya bro..........depends how much moolah u wana throw at it.

Just do the research first and have a clear picture of what you want

there's plenty of people on here running the same sort of setup you're looking at............so there won't be any shortage of advice

just a few notes

td05 + sti ra ecu + free flowing exhaust can lead to boost spike/creep past ~16psi which results in nasty fuelcut

remedy = either leave in the factory catted downpipe or install boostcontrol device

if your still running your water/air intercooler, a wrx ecu will not send the signal to run the intercooler pump. you may need to hard wire it on or some other method.

'chipped' ecu is fine but i think most are done by guesswork or just copied tunes from elsewhere. ideally you need a dyno tune if you want to put any faith in it. (and i'm not sure anyone writes a v1/2 'chip' tune from scratch locally)

i sold my 7K for $200~250 and i think thats a fair value. i can't speak for a 6K but the rev limit will be slightly lower.

yea i bought kami's 7k, cant remember exactly what i paid but yea was around that price bracket, it was worth every dollar anyway, had a very noticeable effect running with the TD05, held boost higher in the rev range and a much more aggressive tune. i ran 15psi every day with it, and for a short period even ran 17psi, though i wouldnt recommend that haha, was pretty quick though.

to give you an idea, on basically a standard v2 wrx 20g setup, with TD05 and the 7k ecu my car dynoed 167kw at rear wheels. i had the factory downpipe in so didnt have trouble with boost spike.

definately find yourself a 7k over a 6k, may just take a little while to find one, i on-sold mine for $200, now im running a posssum link.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
