Has anyone installed a DIN or double DIN head unit into a 2006 Legacy?

I see there is a Subaru double DIN console part no H6217AG912 which would do the job, but it's $1422 +gst from Wingers. Is there an alternative to this?

I've seen them for sale on US websites but they will still be $500-600 landed, is there a cheaper place to buy it from?

they arent cheap to buy, sorry i cant offer any suggestion of a better price / place.

Sometimes they pop up on Trademe.

I know there are a few 04+ owners on here now, perhaps could sort a group buy on them (maybe me incl)

There are 2 versions of the console 1 for pre 07 without dual zone climate and 1 for post 07 with dual zone climate.

Funny that, I just looked at that 15 mins ago, they will work for pre 07 but not post. They are $783 at Hyper, so importing one from USA may still be the cheapest option with the current exchange rate.

Have a look here http://www.avojdm.com/product_info.php?cPath=&products_id=105&osCsid=ilnaeayc

Even with shipping and GST I think you could land this for less than $650 and it's a genuine Subaru part so should fit well.

Have you found a cheaper one yet? I'm looking as well, have seen one on trademe - [ Installation Kit ] 2003on Subaru legacy outback Crazy price to pay. Anyone want to write off their Legacy for a good cause?

what kind of OEM stereo do you have?

if it doesnt have the in-dash stacker, but does have a stacker control, i may be interested in buying it off you: perhaps taking a bit of the sting off the investment in new parts?

food for thought.

I sourced double din panel from avojdm, cost about $510 NZD including shipping.

Anyone have tips/advice on a good head unit to use on a BP5 2006 Legacy?

Mine doesn't have Macintosh stereo, so no amp or sub currently there, but does have steering wheel controls which would be good to keep working.

Pretty keen on radio and iPhone/iPod connectivity, don't really use CD's in the car anymore.

Must have good Bluetooth phone support.

What area are you from? I'd suggest going into some car audio stores (not chain stores) and see what suggestions you get.

You could get any number of suggestions from people on here and still be no better off as you may not know much about them. Myself, I'm running a Pioneer 6950 which I like, has USB control so can use iPod, iPhone and still charge, as well as standard flash drives (which is what I use). Doesn't have bluetooth support though, but I don't care about that.

There will be something similar that will have BT support though. I'm a Pioneer fan, others will be Alpine, etc. Spark_38 is selling a headunit, maybe that will suit?

The Alpine 9887 imprint headunits require an additional adaptor to run bluetooth, it controls iPods - but doesn't charge the newer models, only the classic models, before the iPod touch.

I too am looking at Pioneer headunits, the newer ones DEH-8350SD or DEH-9350SD are quite nice units. But I like their older models DEH-P6050UB or DEH-P7050UB. I wouldn't consider the models below that.

The JVC KD-R926BT is also a nice looking unit with all the bells 'n' whistles.

I recently installed an Alpine X305s and it is awesome, as long as you don't need cd playback, it's ipod integration is second to none. Has imprint and Bluetooth as options also. Get them for really good price on Trademe at the mo.

A surround popped up on Trademe in the last 24 hours for $250, but sold already

Nice catch. They don't last long though, and you have to be fast to grab one on Trademe... Does it bother anyone else when online sellers spell "Subaru" wrong? I'm not sure that kit was entire either - there don't appear to be any actual stereo mounts, or an aerial adapter. Just the cutout and the A/C control

AvoJDM are offering 10% off at the moment, so I got my kit there (I wanted black) for $450 including shipping.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
