JDM V4 WRX:standard forged motor.. Fact or Myth?!

Afternoon all,

Does anyone know if the 'JDM' variant of the V4 WRX had forged internals?

Have seen a few JDM WRX's around, and they appear to be 3/4 loaded with STI goodies (VF22; AFM; 440cc injectors; lightweight bonnet, boot and guards; close-ratio gearbox etc.) and am curious if they've got the forged block too?

If anyone could shed some light, would be greatly appreciated :D

I think he's talking BS about the block in his car, as yuou can read above it mentions '9/99-9/2000', which would indicate that the EJ207 (info he pulled from Wiki) he refers to was installed in cars between September 2009 and September 2010. Seeing as his car is a 1998 WRX, don't think there's any way that his car was fitted with the EJ207.

So unless I hear to the contrary, is it safe at assume that the JDM WRX sits somewhere between the exported WRX and the WRX Type RA, with both of which lacking a fair few things (forged internals, i/cooler, suspension, driveshaft, dash, seats) off the WRX STI?

This thrad will be one for the factoid fiends haha!

yeah i thought he might be all sh!t as well...

im interested now...haha. im confused as about my car...always surprises many..

mines a v-limited so would that make much difference(if any) to whats in it?

tis a v5 so told it has the pink sti shocks..

also has a vf29 turbo lol.

any other thoughts on what would/should be in it?

Spanku even said at one point that it should have the i/c spray as his one had one..but yeah im confused about it all haha.

I always thought that the V Limited was merely a STI, but had embroided bits on it to differentiate itself as a 1000 car limited production model?

Could be wrong, it's happened once before..

the ej207 came in for the version 5 onwards guys. It was the start of the phase2 engine.

there is some myth that very late V4's got an ej207 as well but ive not seen proof of untouched "from the factory" examples of this.

and to answer OP's question. they were only standard wrx internals, or in reverse - they didnt get the forged STI pistions.

nope - no forged pistons. i know cos my brother in law had a stock as a rock un touched v4 "jdm" wrx which he then blew with a bit too much boost and upon opening it was a non forged setup.

the ej207 is the sti 2litre phase2 block so if its a sti from v5 onwards then it will have the ej207 block

the wrx of that generation got the ej205 block so u can now know what block u have if i check the numbers.

ver3/4 gets EJ20K both the sti and jdm has them but the sti has better heads and blue print. im putting a JDM motor out of my car today im very sure its got HF pistons in them same as the ones you get in the STI

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
