Steering shudder only turning left ?

Recommended Posts

So for a while now my cars been shuddering when turning left . Only does it at around 30k plus and also only does it when steering wheel is turned about 90 degrees . Originally thought it was the exhaust hitting the steering knuckle but have fixed that issue and shudder is still there . . . Any ideas ?

soo

replaced the broken axle...while i was ther i checked the rear lower arm bush with my bar,,, no play in there...everything is tight and it still shudders...u can hard out feel the shudder specially through the steering wheel...still only turning left at around 90 degree of lock (like motor way on ramps etc)...

seems to do it worse if the engines decelling??

the exhaust isnt hitting the knuckle anymore at all

but wouldnt that do it turning both ways if anything?? it does seriously only do it left...ntohing at all going right??

it is if something is knocking on something??

can a knocking shock cause this?? play in the cartridge??? my shocks seem to have started knocking recently could be the fault

true so center diff?? did u replace the center diff alone or replace whole gearbox?

ive red up and center diff seems easy to change in place...do not wanna do this is its not the problem though LOL

could it be sway bar?? it seems allgood by feel / look but could be something different

ahh yes thanks bro...i wasnt thinking...i only checked LH side...

HAH...so when i turn left all the weight etc would be on the right wheel / suspension etc?

today ill check out the hubs etc and the bushes and see what i see...

i dont see it being the center diff because how would the center diff know left from right??

and turning at higher speeds means the spider gears in the front diff wouldnt have to do much to get the turning radius where as at low speed they would do more work...wouldnt this make a shuidder worse at low speed if anything?

could camber angle cause this?

gave er a check over today.. both front wheels dont have any steering play (like rack end play) when feeling when the cars jacked up and wheel bearings seem fine and no play... i even turned the steering to the position it does it and felt it all and all is fine...checked both rear lower arm bushes and both are fine...

what else could be the cause LOL...

sway bar?

nah it does it WORSE off throttle...and better on slight throttle lol... ie it shudders worse on decell...

but i can turn as much lock as i want under 30 kph and no shudder...does never shudder in a straight line or turning right...

could it be in the power steering rack??

haha cos i said on here a while back that my rack makes a bit of a airation sort of noise every now and then?? maybe its something to do with the rack making the shidder??

only way to tell i guess is to replace LOL i might as well just put a ver 7 power steer pump on while im at it so i have the remote resevoir :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey . . Havent replaced any thing yet as dont really want to replace stuff I dont need to . . But iv figured out that when turning left on motor way on ramps it will do it quite bad around 50kph at 90 degree turning of the wheel and you can feel it through the floor and the steering wheel . . . . But if you hold the throttle open the slightest bit it reduces the shudder and its nearly gone ? Any one got any ideas ? The exhaust is not hitting the steering shaft either

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
