Stretched Tyres

Is doing this legal? How far can you stretch them?

Currently have some 185 x 45 r15's and looking to throw them on some 8" rims.

That would be too far, but i'm just guessing. Not sure what the legal tolerance for stretching tyres is but it isn't much

Yeah, I'm thinking it would be pretty rediculous but the tyres are practicaly new. The rims are fugly but I dont wanna have to buy a new set of tyres just yet.

I'd imagine yours would be similar so yea a lot of stretch

oooh ;D . probably look quite mean if the offset was right. 1 inch less on the rim and 5mm more tyre width so it wouldn't be as bad.

this is my kinda thread

you should be fine, ive put 165 on 8.5s easy and 215 on 10s!

you will need to explode them on yourself ( which is easy ) as no mainstream tyre shop will do it

and yeah if its blatantly over stretched you do get hit up, i just say its the lip design of the wheels

EDIT:

Got a revised one of these today- it now lists individual tyre sizes with the rim width allowable for that size

its 5 or so pages long now so will try to get a link or a copy up somehow

might make life easier for some

What? They are allowed on many different sizes. Anywhere between 8" and 11.5", depending on the diameter.

Benifit for me is not having to buy a full new set of tyres for the 8" rims I have my eyes on.

I don't give two s***s about your 'thats gay' opinion If I did this thread would have a poll.
