My Car Won't Switch off !

So today I did some more mods to my car.

And by mods, I mean I put a new clip on the brake line, and put on a new horn ( as the old one sounded like a squealing girl )

Anyway, that was all fine, horn works, and I drove it home, and put it in the garage.

Went to collect in the washing, and my car was still going ?!?

So I just assumed the turbo timer was being silly. So I checked it out, it was stuck on 30s, and not counting down. So I put down the handbrake ( as a safety it's meant to switch the engine off ). Still going.

Switched the turbo timer off, car still going.

Went around the front and scratched my head, car still going.

Took the negative terminal off the battery, car still going ( but not so surprised on that )

In the end I had to use the great big kill button on the bonnet. That stopped it.

So, I'm wondering, what on earth would I have knocked when changing the brake clip/horn could've caused that ? I know it wasn't the brake clip.

You might as well disconnect the turbo timer and junk it.

They are useless gizmos for the mechanically un-sympathetic.

I dumped my turbo timer for similar reasons... and you really don't need them as newsuba said.

How likely are to turn the engine off immediately after boosting the cr4p out of it?

Also for racing they are dodgy... unless you have a proper kill switch.

Right, well I'll go out and give her another go this morning. Luckily it does have a proper kill switch, it was the only way I could switch off the car yesterday !

Yep.

They usually tell you to switch off t/timers when racing.

slightly off topic but how do you get round that when its hooked into your alarm - i.e AVS 5S has it inbuilt?

Strangely enough, re-attached the earth, hit the big red button for on, and started the car, off, on, hand brake down, turbo timer off, on, and yeah, no problems at all. So I would suspect you're all right, the turbo timer is playing silly buggers.

This happened to me once, turned out turbo timer was wired into the same line as headunit power, and headunit blew a fuse which killed the t timer as well. Check your fuses!

I had my timer pack a shit not so long ago.

Turned out that the guys doing the track day safety audit , flicked the main isolator on and off really quick which screwed up the timer.

Bloody thing wouldn't stop beeping the whole time i was out on track!!!!!!!

Ended up unplugging it for rest of the day..

When i plugged it back in the next day it was fine.

^^^ lol yea the one in my mrs wrx packed a shitty a while back, its a blitz one and it plays annoying little songs when you switch the ignition off and it wouldnt shut up the whole time the car was running lol
