smoked tail lights

Recommended Posts

they are illegal i suppose/

why - wud someone know?

i been told by some source that its cos the red reflective bit on the break section must not be obscured

what if on a smoked tail lite i was to stick on some reflective red strips

that ought to make them allright i suppose...>?

lol its defeting the purpose.your lights are used to show people what your up to.eg stoping turning reversing, then you get a idiot coming along and making them black so the person behind you cant see what your doing.seems sensless to me why you make them black?they look cool yeh but id pefure some one not crashing into the back off me beacuse they couldnt see my back lights,

there iilegal to a certain point.if there black as then yes.if there slightly tintd you shuld be ok.as long as all lights are still 100% visual and it hasnt effect the lighting.

no no mine are stock lites

have seen some lightly tinted ones on TM and wana know before buying

i agree with u man - black ones are silly

byt how much of a tint is ok to slide thru without getting pulled over - i suppose thats my question

have seen lotsa cars that have tinted ones but never really questioned further on that lol

factory dark taillights are A OK,

as soon as i start to tint them you can have issues even a light tint is "illegal" but u may get away with it for bit or not depends on tester/police/insurance,if u get rear eneded by some dick who is not looking and the insurance company sees u had non stock lenses it may be an out for them is they so choose

My mate has a S14.

He put Black Stockings over the taillights lights LOL.

As long as they dont impair light reflectiveness I dont see the problem.

if you use tinting spray on any light its illegal an most will probably fail your wof on it. I always wondered about aftermarket lights that are tinted though because there are quite alot out there, what are the rules on changing to an aftermarket light?

If it a tinted aftermarket light that was designed as a tinted version then as long as it has the correct markings then it should be fine....

its not the darkness they look for but they actual light that comes out of it.if the tints effects the brightness of the light you will fail,if they have a slight tint on them you shall be sweet, common sence really.

Do they need to have red colour visible from behind when no brake or lights on? ie are clear lights still ok?

I want LED lights. Its not the smoke that makes them expensive its that they are from the USA and a decent quality LED light.

Some cheaper versions dont have LED for the turn signals.

I thought $650 odd for aftermarket led lights of good quality was pretty cheap including delivery.

And tuning isn't something to skimp money on, not that I can talk I do it with gotasuby.

surley 600$ could have been spent better on performance mods.easy.but like i said his car his money.i would have looked into a panel filter upgrade, dwnpipe, then tune,im sure stm had a offer going 50% all dyno tunning or something
