F**KING AFTERMARKET S**T

Recommended Posts

Ok so i bought an alloy radiator from Redline for my 2000 V6 WRX RA.

1st Issue: The fan shrouds wouldn't line up on top and bottom, so i bolted the top and cable tied the bottom, im ok with that.

2nd Issue: The connection where the top hose and coolant res hose are, are far to close together! there is only 4mm between them (as shown in photo below), the wall of the silicone top hose is just over 4mm thick so

a) it doesn't even go under the 2nd nipple

and b) if one hose doesn't fit on, how are two meant to fit on at the same time!

Yeah, pretty common with a lot of those aftermarket alloy rads. I had the same issue with mine. You can put a screwdriver in that small connection (make sure it is just smaller than the inner diameter) and give it a gentle tweak upwards to give enough room for the top radiator hose. DONT bend it too much though or it will crack.

In the end I cut that fitting off completely and filled it in then welded another fitting on the side of the tank.

If you arent happy with it, just take it back to them - from what I understand they are usually pretty good about it.

i also had trouble with a metal 1, the fans fitted mint but was never guna sit low enough 2 close the bonet and i would have had 2 cut the hoses 2 even get close 2 fitting, sent it back, wasnt redline tho

Yeah i didn't have a too good experience when I got one off Redline, wasn't designed properly either so got a refund.

Wouldn't ever get a Redline radiator again. They are good for most other stuff though!

I think radiators are one of those things which are best sourced from a Radiator shop.

Yea the holes on mine for the fans didn't line up. I used a chainsaw sharpening file I had lying around to love the holes slightly over to line up, was easy as to do being aluminum. And yea as Tony said, just bend the top one up slightly, that's what I ended up doing.

I believe a number of people from here have been very satisfied with their service and products.

Im not doubting all of their products or serive, just this radiator.

I've bought from them before and all has been well.

Why bother changing? its not like the stock item isnt up to the job

That like asking why we change anything though

To waste money on things we don't need to spend money on in the first place!!!

factory one is more than up to the task so i would stick with it unless tis damaged or something.

Its like changing factory wheels, they do the job perfectly well, yet people change them all the time.

Not quite.. People change their rims for lighter one's, or one's that suit the car better.

If you've got the $$ to burn go crazy with an alloy fancy one. Otherwise, save yourself the money and just get factory and put the money towards something else. But noone is going to stop your otherwise :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
